i would suggest using a CNC router. I know maple is really soft, and oak is super strong.

i won an ebay auction for a green dmg, and when it was time to ship, the lady explained that it doesnt work, and if she wanted me to still have it. she sent it to me, free. best auction ever. i went on modding it and it got a new home, where it shortly died sad *kinetic turtle* cough cough) wink

kitsch has a little kit on his site here. you can paint them (super easy to take apart). use a powerpak (found here) or use the new cart comming out by krikzz smile the connector is the cheapest thing to do to it.  here is some info on the N8 cart smile
