how can you get this thing so horribly wrong?...

...there are soooo many things that you could have got wrong...

But yeah, without pics or something, this is impossible. Are you using the right versions of lsdj and mgb??

I'm so going to be flexing in James' pits.

Fingers crossed for no volcano and I'll probably be there.

I was actually looking for a new name to make music under. Is it cool if I steal hers?

I've done it here:

https://8bc.org/music/combatdave/Untitizzled/

I used a couple of guitar tracks, running them through amplitube or something, and then I think I put one of them through Ableton Live's regular distortion effect. I think because it's not trying to model an amp or anything, it makes it sit a bit better with the square waves etc. Also, I think I put a little reverb/delay on both the guitar and the square waves to make it sound like they were in the same room. The concept sounds like bullshit, but I guess it works okay.

any chance for android? :]

I really don't know how to program for android, so I personally won't be making an android version any time soon, but I'm willing to share how I did it with any android programmers out there!

I might take be interested in this, I have an android app on the android store. Send me a PM on here, if you could smile

Sup guys,

Like a year ago there was a sweet LSDJ patch collection online where people could add their own and stuff... anyone know where it is? I also keep seeing a link to some lsdj cookbook pdf file when I'm searching, but the link is always broken. A re-up of that would be wicked.

That's cool as shit. Thought about having it fade between the different settings? I far prefer the smoother PWM sound to the steppy sound from something like a gameboy.

[Oops, never mind, just realised the pedal has a LFO for that smile]

Oops, forgot to write something. I wrote my own software to convert the Guitar Hero button presses into midi... it has various modes, but the one in the second video is the best. The video pretty much describes what is going on, but I select the scale in the software, which then sends the notes to Ableton. I think it is using a binary scale type thing for the button presses.

I swear if I read one more thing about the iPad I'm going to stab either myself or somebody else.

Maybe somebody who is wearing a scarf indoors and/or thick rimmed glasses.

Damnit, stupid FM sad

When I click the link I get:

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.lazerscale2010.com

Sad panda sad

Woohoo, my first thread on Chipmusic.org!

Anyway, I love the sound of the Megadrive (particularly the music from the first Sonic games), and I want to make something which sounds similar... I want to try to get these sounds from either LSDJ or Plogue Chipsounds, though, rather than using real hardware or some Megadrive-specific software.

Does anybody have any pointers in how I could accomplish this with one or both of those pieces of software? I'm not entirely sure what the Megadrive was capable of hardware-wise (number of channels, synth types, samples, etc), so I am not sure where to start at all. I think I hear triangle waves in a lot of Megadrive tunes, but... ???

Appreciate any help!

This is the kind of thing I'm aiming for...

I was just thinking about this exact thing about two days before I read this. I'll probably upload a youtube vid with how it sounds, as the original link to the soundclip seems to have disappeared...
