Yamaha V50

Everything works mint, and I changed the internal battery last year. Includes hard shell case. Its a cool synth that I rarely use nowadays so its time to sell it.

Info from Vintage Synth:

Imagine the excellent sonic characteristics of the DX11 synthesizer or TX-81Z sound module. The V50 is the ultimate 4-Operator FM synth workstation comprising 16-note polyphony, a dual effects processor (with distortion), a large dual line, backlit LCD display, a drum machine, a 16,000 note sequencer and a 3.5in floppy drive to save your songs and voices!

The DVA function and built in voice-based pitch delay are two interesting features in this synth. It's great for percussive sounds such as short bass sounds, marimbas, clavinets, etc and should one pitch an operator really high and work with the pitch bender, one gets very cool ambient effects. It's very rare yet cheap in today's 2nd-hand market and coupled with an outboard (analog) filter it makes an unbeatable digital FM synth!

And its a full workstation, you can record and make things right on the keyboard... Has dope heavy reverbed drum kits to lay the funk !!!

I know practically nothing about these things but the MPU-401 seems to be a bit of a complicated issue, it appears to be included as a gameport, actually build on to some opl3 cards, which would indicate that it won't be on a lot of laptops (I assume). Also it seems to of been it's own interface card/box and a lot of variants and compatible products were about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPU-401

And a quick search through a Libretto maintenance manual turned up this:

Libretto 50-70 Maint Manual wrote:

Sound Controller The Libretto 50CT uses one OPL3-SA2 that incorporates: OPL3 FM synthesizer,
Digital Analog Converter (DAC), and MPU401 MIDI interface.
∗The Libretto 70CT uses one OPL3-SA3 that incorporates: OPL3 FM synthesizer, Digital Analog Converter (DAC), and MPU401 MIDI interface.

Wondering how that works exactly, considering the Libretto port replicator lacks the 15-pin gameport... hmm

well i believe in the laptops.. it just emulates the mpu-401. I dont see it having a legit mpu-401 inside... but I guess I could be wrong.. heh

yes the portman should work fine... i was testing it with the portman parallel device.. serial should be the same deal...
