I will donate my Model 2 to the animalstyle cause if this doesn't work out.
I'm good - trying to refurbish my High Definition Graphics model 1.

This makes me think. If you're only ever using a flash cartridge like the Everdrive, you might consider ditching the slot entirely and soldering wires from the holes to the cartridge pins. Then you could store the cartridge PCB inside the unit itself. Not sure if there's enough space to do this properly and if you can prepare external access to the SD card/USB connector, but perhaps a method worth considering.
now that's an idea! just mount an SD card reader off to the side or something?

I have stopped using the genesis on stage as of late because all of mine sorta flake a lot due to bad cart connections. Anyone who's played a loud event knows that bumping bass and NES 72 connectors don't always go over well - welll... try the Genesis - it's even worse and most of the damn cart connectors are worn to shit. At least on the NES you can replace them. i wrote Kitch about it and tried to find the answer and pleaded that he might sell new connectors. Seems as though there is already something in production - stop me if someone already posted this and if it's obvious as hell. It took some digging to actually find:
Saw this: http://gendev.spritesmind.net/mirrors/m er_gb.html
then clicked on this: http://gendev.spritesmind.net/mirrors/m garom2.txt
and found that the part I was looking for is called a: Card Edge Connector (real obvious!)
specifically a 64Pin Card Edge Connector w/2.54mm pitch
I'm thinking this will work: http://www.ebay.com/itm/5pcs-Industrial 20ca66c848
I ordered some - i'll let you know how it goes - it's 64pins to desolder but i think its way worth it for playback stability right? haha...

Would be great! I've been playing with this stuff in Bitwiz on the iphone, it's pretty great, can put variables from a double xy controller and the mic input into the code too.
check out my example on how to use the pad for a momentary instrument!
the mic input makes some crazy crazy sounding stuff - that program is neat but i wish it supported arrays.

Dino Lionetti and i have been messing around with some JavaScript / DOS bytebeat music + visuals. Here's a YouTube of me rocking out with Oven Rake at 8static. I'm using IBNIZ created by the legendary viznut (the strange equations are mine):
Bytebeat is a fairly simple idea and could be implemented on old consoles. Bytebeat is basically reading the time clock on a computer and turning it into sound. The counter creates a sawtooth waveform from the time clock because it has to start back at "0" after however many steps are completed. Then you bit shift by multiplying values etc. against it. IBNIZ is the visual equivalent if that makes any sense. I'm sure some developers could make stuff like this for old consoles - id be in heaven!
