...but lsdj does right? sorry kinda of a lame question, just want to be sure. eh, im sure it will. nm.

I was just wondering because of lsdj. I assume it works on both. How do the colors translate?

I can relate very much to your post Trist. The perfection thing is a creativity killer. I go through phases where I become obsessed with making a certain aspect of my music perfect, which is neat at first, but eventually I have to purge my expectations. Listening to free jazz helps. Don't feel doubtful just because you don't know much theory. If there's something about a piece of music that appeals to you, it's worth pursuing. The best music I've ever made was when I was having fun and satisfying curiosity. Learning theory will help you to know where to find the sounds that you want. It won't generate the music. I do recommend learning guitar or something simple tho. There's nothing stopping you from learning an instrument if you want.

it's really cool. i like the rough edges.

Right. From the programmers perspective your just writing to registers. Switching voices on and off. I doubt the wave Buffer was meant to be changed so quickly. It's suprising that it works as well as it does actually.

It does sound good for distorted synths n stuff.

Cool. Yeah it sounds alright depending on how you use it I guess.

Are you talking about the music section here? Yah it would be nice if it was featured or something. Just a little more like 8bc, without being obnoxious.

Hey guise, I have another question. Sorry hope it's not too annoying.

Is the F command supposed to make your instrument sound like crap? I mean is there supposed to be a click sound between each frame change? I get this on both my emulator and GBC. But I just heard a song where someone used i cool synth, and am now jealous. His song uses the frame changes without a loud clicking. hmm

S00 does not return the shape to its original form in the way that a 00 in the TSP column would.

Yah, that's what tripped me up in the beginning. I have to use TSP to have it not be additive.

Gotcha. smile

Whoops, i actually do have 4.0.5. I just stopped using the outrageous shape changes. But I'll try animal style's thing. I actually don't fully understand the changes created by the S command yet. I just have to mess with it till I like how it sounds. Need to learn the logic of it.

I do have to say, I love 4.0.5. The "prelisten" option is so tight.

I find that if I play anything in the noise channel on a Game Boy Color it skips about a third of the notes randomly. That's on multiple different ones too. DMGs and SPs work fine though.

Gah! The gbc inferior sound architecture strikes again!

AAhhh. The table isn't too heavy tho. This is what is looks like:

tsp   cmd
EF   S 4B
00    S 14
00    H 00

So, yea. I'm changing the shape really fast...I guess maybe the S commands are a bit superfluous. I like how it sounds tho. I'll tinker. The funny thing is that I'm using the "STABLE" setting.

my version doesnt have such nonsense. USE THE OLDSCHOOL LIKE A MAN.

Yeah I just got 4.0. Comes with a strawberry lip gloss.

So I just got an EMS cart with LSDJ. It's radical! The only glitch so far is that the noise channel will cut out ever now and again. Maybe once out of every fifteen measures, I won't hear my noise snare. It's not a huge deal, but what the hell? Is it programmer error on my part? It's only happened with one song so far.

can you guys plox start adding music to your grime?

I contacted the dub council. No grime doesn't change. No exceptions. I suspect fowl play..

Bassnectar is real dubstep. There's just a backlash against mid-range basslines. I like the shit out of Nero. More often though I listen to stuff like on Hotflush. Anyway...

liiike Mount Kimbie Scuba and Ramadanman? i wouldn't call them dubstep myself but i love their sound. i guess if you had to you could say it was 'clean' dubstep or something stupid like that. Nero had some great tunes, pretty much the only trance flavored music i would ever listen to.

Ah Cartoon Bomb, i have friends who go to All Good like every year, never went myself, was never into the whole acoustic stoner jam band scene. Bassnectar is very awesome though, his music doesn't exactly fit into any one category which is nice.

Yeah all that stuff. I know it's not dubstep in a typical sense, but it's derived from dubstep. That's what I meant by the whole diversity thing. From dubstep there have been all these new sounds that have began taking shape. I still listen to the more typical stuff tho.

I've been scouring 8bc for chiptune dubstep tracks for a while and I've come across a handful of gems amongst some uninspired i-can-has-wubwub. As far as non-chip dubstep goes I find that it's talented producers from outside the dubstep scene who do the stuff that interests me the most... Like Cardopusher who started as a breakcore guy or people like Doshy who was making more clubby electronic tracks... and some of the squee / wonky / bassline / brokenbeat / insert flavor-of-the-month sub-genre name here people like pixelord, slugabed, robot koch, neil landstrumm, eprom etc. I also HIGHLY recommend checking out NastyNasty or NitGrit on soundcloud.

In my mind all this stuff is dubstep - It's just progressed beyond the initial template and or cross pollinated with other genres like most of my favourite music does.

Word up. That's the thing. I liked the days when the definition of dubstep was more loose. It came from dark garage kinda stuff, and half-step really only picked up around 2005, which sounds a bit like hiphop. It's kind of an amalgamation. Anywho, I'll have to take a listen to those tracks once 8bc is back up.

I love this ep.
