BASICALLY.

ALL WE ARE ASKING FOR IS ABSOLUTE PERFECTION AND IF YOU DON'T DELIVER THE ENTIRE INTERNET IS GOING TO BE UPSET.

I just bought myself a microkorg and I want to know how I can incorporate the gameboy. More specifically, what mods do I need to do homework on. I'm sure there is plenty it can do together but I would like to know a good place to start.

Welp you can also build a cable to midi control the gameboy via the keyboard. If you use a mixer and get voices from the actual synth too it would allow for stacking giving a mixed output of the synth and the gameboy as one. could be cool for some sound design stuff that diversifies the gameboy sound or fattenes it.

Hi dualitymicro,

if you plan to make a gba sp nanoloop 2.x cable to volca/monotribe sync, I will be interested.
I see you already made one for the DMG.

What this gentleman said but make an extra for me!!!

so uh what happened to this?

Hi thanks for the reminder. I am still busy with the synth at the moment. Unfortunately I am doing everything on my own, which takes a crazy amount of time and I haven't had that much to spare.

So far the status update. I currently have a functioning (polyphonic) sound generator, currently it can support up to 30 voices (10 note polyphony) with free running and syncable ADSR envelopes, however this is without filters. It has a square wave channel; currently with pwm (divided in 12.5% increments). A selectable waveform (square, triangle, ramp, saw, sine, also toying with the idea with user selectable waveforms), with hard sync.

Of course many features still have to be implemented, midi sync is definitely one of them, but also an arpeggiator. Perhaps you noticed in my ramblings that I am talking features and not the interface. This is because I am still considering what the interface will be. I am toying with the idea to keep it a small and simple desktop synthesizer, combining a menu oriented interface with discrete and assigned/ assignable controls, or piling on more features and controls like a step sequencer and dedicated knobs.

I am hoping to have more time over the summer to spend on this and that I am nearing completion by the end of the summer. Furthermore I want to complete some sketches of several interface and exterior possibilities within now and a few weeks to show you guys. I am really curious what you think of the ideas for this synth I am toying with.

Sounds cool man! glad it's still going smile
I think hands on interface is the key. I would avoid a setup with too much menu diving and would suggest having the most immediate controls to have devoted knobs while the lesser ones be accessible via knob encoder and a screen. I have been looking at designing a poly synth myself so I get the design woes. Good luck man. I am sure you don't need it tho.

Dude, how rich are you!?
You sir, live in heaven.

lol not very. actually quite the opposite. Everything that I buy i get second hand from small used music shops in small towns that don't know what to do with this type of gear (the gear just sits there and they keep lowering the prices until someone picks them up) and carefully hunted internet auctions. Buying face to face also helps with eliminating shipping fees. With a little patience and a lot of self control you can get some great deals still. All of this stuff is just built up over several years. I used to buy used gear from thrift shops and sell them for cash as well to pick up extra $ or trade in for new gear. The 909 and 808 are borrowed sometimes from my band mates. We share equipment a lot.

It's all about waiting, watching, traveling, and careful curation.

Tightening that belt and saving doesnt hurt too tongue

so uh what happened to this?

Self-Destructive (Remastered)

Download/Listen

"In August of 2008 I was forced into a very painful and uncomfortable situation that left me emotionally destroyed and confused. During the initial first stages of this ordeal I made and recorded what became "Self-Destructive" with a Game boy running LSDJ, an amplifier, and a line-in to a borrowed computer using Audacity. I had limited resources at the time so I made do with the raw material I had...I have been asked multiple times since to share it again by different people over the years. Because of those requests I pulled these out of the archives..."

(Thank you for all of you who have stuck around all these years and listened to my old music. It blows my mind to know that this stuff still has some kind of relevance for someone other then myself. I am super grateful for that).
