dont forget guys we are working with digital sample synthesis. how your samples mash together really makes a difference. also be careful with your file names. avoid using special symbols and what not. plain text is usually ok. i havent had issues with the capital letter thing myself tho. i have had issues with using percentage and pluses and all that other nonsense. dont know why its there really.

gbc has become my game boy of choice over the last year. a stock gbc usually has a thin sound and a weak bass. prosound mod will add bass and fullness to the sound for when you are recording. if you only have one gb i would make sure to do the added jack as the prosound wont support the level needed for headphones well.  its all about recording quality. the only thing that people can complain about the prosounded gbc sound is that there is a highpitched whining sound created buy the screen. it is easily worked around with some eq work.

as far as the stock gbc chip... well it is no less quality then the dmg. the difference in sound comes mostly from the components between the circuits from the chip and the out jack. you are skiping those circuits with the prosound mod so there is less interruption from the chip to the output.

both units have there merits. the gbc is less likely to crash with lsdj and is more compact. with the prosound mod it sounds good and arguably better then the bass heavy dmg. it all depends on what you are doing. the dmg can be muddy with its bass sometimes. with a gbc the sound can be clearer.

Why?
Because people feel like sharing what they've done?
I think it's amazingly progressive. It's often stated that this community is just musicians writing music for other musicians. So, why not share these links with each other and, effectively, share it with people we know?

sharing social networking isn't bad. the part that is bad is that the community becomes an inset pool. I dont know why we just focus on sharing with other musicians when we should focus more on an audience. in my opinion we have an over flow of chip musicians and not enough fans outside the community. I just think it would be nice to bring other people instead of creating these cliquish groups of musicians and keep circle jerking each other.

lets jerk off some new people, i'm bored of jerking off with the same people. wink

you squares with your video games and gimmicks... that is all.

1) Are the file extensions like .prg, .tap, and .d64 the original formats used by commodore or are they made after to make it easy to share and use files in emulators?

Basically I want to see if its worth looking into getting a 1581 disk drive and using an external usb floppy drive for my modern computer to transfer info back and forth with 3.5 floppy.

i know for a lot of rom and other such formats (like nsf) they cant work on real hardware without converting it into an appropriate extension or having a special reader software for the device.

Is this the case with the C64?

2) also mssiah... do you have to do the extra chip conversion? I really only want to use the 3 main channels without adding an extra sid chip. its kinda put me on the wall about the thing.
