Battle Arena Toshinden had some great music. people forget that Battle Arena Toshinden ever existed and people remember much less the gameboy port but truthfully it was a pretty great game and the music is really interesting. it has alot of variations from song to song and the style is pretty pimp.

listen to that fucking reverb effect.... so good.

I like my powerpak. its been good to me. i think its worth it. i dont use it for video games so i dont need 100% mappers. Quick and easy. as far as accuracy... all the sounds are coming directly from the 2a03 chip so.... i dont think its inaccurate at all. It is for sure easy to test and run songs and fast. Having multiple songs all in one area with different dmpc samples.... priceless.

If you want an accurate programer and game designer experience then do the diy. if your not that deep into things powerpak is great.

there are other diy projects for the NES/ famicom that you can do... i dont think you absolutely have to do it all. i have opened my own nes up and added direct jacks to the 2a03 and done lock out chip cuts and extra channel mod. all simple diy but fun for sure. it just depends on how deep into it you want to go. each person is different. /me shrugs

why are you using a mixer?

Well, primarily so I can mix more than one sound together.  I use more than just one Game Boy - my Nintendo and my custom beepers and bloopers need places to plug in.

I also like to remove a little bit of stereo seperation on the Game Boy, I don't generally like the hard panning, so I set the stereo seperation with the mixer by panning the left and right signal a little bit less than hard left and right.

why do you have a kaoss pad running into another one?

it maybe not the most harmonious or well known sound track on the nes but i have to say i love hearing all of the crazy sounds from the akira famicom game. its not your typical happy bouncing music and all made without the use of the sample channels or any extra chips.

weird, minimal, and abstract would be the best way i can think od describing it.

Geinoh Yamashirogumi made all the music for the akira movies and that influence really comes out in this.

this shit sux it looks all professional and stuff. it probably has good music and stuff too. pffft. who likes those things?

all i can say is that i am glad i dont check the site anymore.
