I don't if the music stores here would like this, but I can sure try.

Considering that you'll be giving them a lot of money I think it would be in their best interests to let you play whatever music you want through them smile

It should work fine generally, it'll synchronize to whatever source you give it at the same apparent speed. If you synchronize other devices to the game boy they will show a different tempo to the game boy but the timing should be correct. The game boy's internal clock shouldn't affect its ability to sync to external timing information.

I tested it and yeah it works and it's stereo smile Although it looks like Alex has one now so perhaps we won't need mine.

Your best bet really is to go to a musical equipment store and listen to some in real life so you can make a judgement for yourself about the sound quality. Make up a CD with a variety of music, not just chip tunes or electronic music, then play that on a bunch of different speakers. If you just buy a set online or something based on a recommendation without having listened to them you have no way of knowing if you'll actually like them.

Also consider the size of the room the speakers will be in when you're buying them, if you'll be using them in a small room like your bed room you'll want smaller speakers, if they're too big the bass will just overpower everything when you turn them up to a reasonable level.

I will say, however, that Behringer make some very colored monitors, in other words the bass and treble are hyped to make them sound good, so beware if you're considering getting them.

Woot!

Also I don't know if anyone's seen my recent facebook posts but anyway I was following this guide to mod my mega drive http://www-unix.ecs.umass.edu/~dhowland/mod/#audio and as it happens the motherboard layout is different on the PAL version of the console, so i've put off modding it for now. If someone wants to get in touch with me who has done it before I can get it done before the show but otherwise it's not a big deal, mine has a headphone output so we can just use that I guess?!

Hey any Brisbane people see the mx newspaper today? Apparently there's a chip music thing on the front page, I haven't been able to pick it up though ... Didn't we do the photo shoot for that a few months ago? Lol

Edit: sorry to hear about potato masta sad

Edit edit: seen it now lol, we're front page news! Unfortunate juxtaposition of the headline though .... Hehe

Totally bizarre and cool all at once ... yikes

Oh well at least most of it's working lol
I don't know if it's possible to fix the horizontal lines at all, I believe the same method can't be used.
You're welcome smile

Yeah you can fix vertical lines like that, just not horizontal ones if you have any.

Sometimes the contact points get dirty or the silicon pads move which makes the button pushes register incorrectly or not at all, often just cleaning the contact points with electrical contact cleaner or reseating the silicon pads can fix the problem.

Is there any noticeable physical damage on your second DMG's insides? As in, did you accidentally cut any part of the ribbon cables? If not you may have accidentally separated the point between the ribbon cable and the screen which is fixable. Just remove the rubber border at the bottom of the screen, then place a low voltage soldering iron over the points where the lines appear for a few seconds, that should reseal the solder points under the screen and get it working properly again.

I bought two of these thinking it'd be awesome to run my game boys through them, and it is, only problem is they can't take a particularly hot signal. The headphone output is usually ok but the pro sound outputs are way too loud, distorts like crazy, which is a shame. Also the output is always mono unsurprisingly, even if you put a stereo source through it. Besides that they're pretty good fun.

Get a C64 laptop!

Srs: I bought a Macbook after years of being a PC user, I was worried I'd miss using Windows but I really haven't. OSX has certain benefits over Windows for audio work as well, CoreAudio (default audio driver on macs) is so solid you don't need other audio drivers like ASIO on Windows to get it useable and in fact pretty much all audio applications on OSX use it for that reason. Audio and MIDI setup and routing is much easier too, and everything still works without restarting even if you accidentally unplug something or need to change your interface, and you can use multiple interfaces simultaneously without resorting to ASIO4ALL which is a bit unstable. Obviously if you're planning on playing games on it there's better options but as a general purpose workhorse it's hard to beat.

Will this get a release in the Australian DSi store as well?

Hey guys, we had a problem with our new PA setup which made streaming the event difficult - basically during DJ Lame's set, because he was using the laptop we were going to stream from to DJ, combined with a bunch of other technical issues, meant that I was having problems getting Ustream to get any input at all. This wasn't his fault but more of an oversight on my part, I probably should have arranged a second computer or made sure it worked correctly before the event. We also discovered it was not very easy to get a useable signal even after his set, for some reason I had to make the PA really loud for my computer to pick up the signal at all. As a result I didn't set up the stream because I couldn't reliably get it to run.

That aside I think everyone did a great job, thanks heaps to DJ Lame and AndyExpandy for playing. I thought my performance was a bit directionless and not quite up to my usual standard though, so I'll make sure my next show blows this one out of the water.

Sorry to anyone who was hoping to listen in or get a recording, and sorry to anyone who was there and was a little disappointed by the way things ran. I've learned from this and will make sure I'm more prepared for upcoming events so everything goes smoothly and everyone enjoys themselves.
