Like Kitsch said, the second clone is rare. It's not something you can readily purchase, and if you're lucky enough to find one for sale, you should be prepared to pay a hefty buck on it. I've received some generous offers on mine, but I have no plans to part with it just yet.

Very cool project.

For the LCD backlighting, I can sell/trade you some of our older backlight kits, which should be perfect for this since power LED removal isn't a problem.  I have a very small stock of every color still.

Cool! I want to try that now.

Here's a demo I did today of the backlight cycling through colors. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEp54m25 … bVFxAyWMuc

Challenge Accepted.

Good luck.  The best way to do it would be to graft pieces onto the buttons, otherwise they're just fall out after they're filed down. Even if it works, the chances are the buttons will be unstable, have a bad response, and will look pretty bad.

But I'd like to be proven wrong, so I could finish my PS2 boy.

Hey Apeshit Im thinking of pre-ordering!
When I do how long do you think they will be sent out???

It difficult to say. I made one more minuscule tweak in the design, so there's going to be one more sample run. Also, Chinese new year is coming up which will cause some delays. Hopefully not long, but at this point I can't make any estimations.

But if you're interested in pre-ordering, it would be much appreciated! I need all the help I can get with this project...

Edit: Also I decided to do actual color matching with the grey screen covers. I learned it wasn't possible to get it precise using generic color codes.

Heat is better than using pressure. Using pressure may cause even more issues.

I use a soldering iron with solder. Most people use a clean tip, but I find it works better if you add solder and clean it off after.

Can you put here SP -> GBA screen mod???

It may be possible but you would probably have to solder from the board to the end of the ribbon cable. I might have to give this a try!

I tried this over a year ago. It should be possible.

I contemplated making custom circuit boards to use as an adapter, because soldering to the ribbon cable or the socket isn't easy. Really only possible by bending the pins in opposite directions.

I'd like to try it again. Anyone got a backlit SP with a (semi) broken LCD to spare?

nordloef said they're teal, so any further debates will be disregarded.

On a serious note, pictures can be misleading. Here's a DMG I bought off of ebay: http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee3 … ture87.png It was green.

I was being modest... It's an aftermarket teal DMG.

That's a teal aftermarket shell by the looks of it.
