OH MAN

Thanks! I'll throw one in that custom DMG wink

Here's the clear DMG with removed text. Much better.

Black screen cover:

Purple:

Any roughness or scratches are just on the protective film on the front of them.

How about dark grey to match PiL buttons?

Otherwise, clear, black, dark blue

Didn't consider that from some reason. Thanks Matt!

A friend of mine said he would really like white!

However I really enjoyed the acid wash colors that you had previously, though those are probably not very cost effective to make in small batches.

I cooould make some like that. Those ones weren't made by me though. They were around in the 90's.

They're not high on the list though, not many people liked them. They're very extreme and don't match well with any DMGs really, unless you paint them...

But if there's enough demand, it's something to consider. I've got a couple other ideas as well, but these will be first.

I dunno, I think clear looks a little silly even on a clear gameboy..

White would look amaaaazing on a black or red gameboy imo. The other colours you suggested are good too!

Yeah, clear...Honestly I had no plans to do clear, but multiple people contacted me about clear screen covers, even before I showed any interest in having screen covers made.

I like it on the clearboy. It's definitely an odd change, and hard to adjust to because it looks like there's no screen cover on. It might look better with the text removed, or maybe on one of Kitsch's reproduction shells.

Thanks for your opinions!

I've just received samples of some new screen covers I've had designed.

I'm going to have four different colors produced, and am currently taking suggestions:

Black
Purple - To match text on black and clear DMGs or buttons on grey DMGs
Dark blue - Matches text on grey DMGs
Grey - Matches shell color
Clear
White

I'm personally leaning towards grey, black, dark blue and clear.

If you have other color suggestions feel free to list them. I'm also doing one order of a more detailed screen cover, but it will be done separate from these.

Here's a couple photos:

Looks better with blue buttons:

Following up on what Analog said,

The pro sound mods are likely shorting out somewhere. Could be the RCA jacks.

My best guess would be that when you're plugging something in, you're changing the flow of electricity.  Current likes to follow the path with the least resistance and this could be temporarily suppressing the short.

That's just a guess, I could be completely wrong. Seeing the guts would definitely help determine the problem.

Also, for your labels did you buy the stickers pre-made or did you just print them off? (or are they painted on?)

They're DIY decals. I actually have some made that I don't plan on using if you'd like some.

Do you know who made them or what they were called? I would really like to get my hands on one

I don't know much information about them unfortunately enough. I found a guy that had a bunch stored and bought them off him at a hefty price, but they're mostly all gone now.

They didn't appear to come in any sort of real packaging, and I haven't been able to figure out the manufacturer.

Good job! I like the color scheme.

If you can track down one of those old green third party screen covers, they match the buttons really well. Here's and older one I did:

Totally awesome.

Maybe just contact the admins directly. The monthly thread here asking about 8bc's downtime is a bit redundant.

Cool Game Boy clone, though. I still like that sideways one, but the fact that this one comes in so many colours is pretty awesome.

I want that one! I heard it doesn't play real gameboy games though. If that's true, I wouldn't really go out of my way to get one.

Kitsch, if you don't have time to run the tests, maybe donate a flashcart to Apeshit for science, or if either one of you dare, send me the unit for testing and a teardown with hi-res photos.

I bought a cart from Kitsch a couple days ago. Unsure if I can reflash it with my OS though. I guess we'll see.

As for a teardown...I may open it soon. I don't lack confidence by any means when it comes to disassembling stuff, but it might not be built to be disassembled. The ribbon cable could be glued in or something silly like that.

I am dying to see the insides, but it'd be an awfully expensive lab rat.
