I realize this isn't a chiptune-related question, but this is relevant to the hardware itself and I thought that this would be the best place to ask it:

From what I heard about the ability to save your game in the Sonic 3 cartridge, it's not saved on a battery but on an NVRAM chip which has 100,000 re-write cycles. I also heard a rumor that you can reset the rewrite cycles if you use a game genie or a pro action replay. Is there any truth to those rumors? Or if I buy an unsavable Sonic 3 cartridge I'm gefucked?

Too bad you guys forgot this one: http://vintagecomputermusic.com/ Vinyl came out when it was released back in 1979. My mother is Dorothy Siegel, which makes me a bona fide 2nd-gen Chip Musician. B-)

As for what chiptunes is, I think Danimal Cannon said it best: It's an instrumentation.

This fact makes me so happy.

The fact that you are happy makes me happy. smile

I describe my music as "8-bit" for whenever people to whom I give my biz cards are confused when I tell them I'm a "chip musician".

Okay, so I chose KiGB and output to WAV directly from there. Thanks for all your help, guys!

If you want to go the extra mile (kilometer) you could set up Wine and run BGB. Wine on OSX is a bit of a hassle as far as I remember, but BGB should officially work in Wine, and it can record directly to a wav file.

Wine is a non-starter. I tried so hard to get it to work on OS X but I never could because the MACWINE project couldn't keep up with the rate at which Apple kept updating OS X.

Thanks! Will do after I get back from gym!

Hey, I don't know if this is the right subforum for this, but do you guys know how I can record LSDJ through Gambatte on OS X such as through WAV or AIFF files?

It's an Early 2009 Mac Pro with some internal upgrades. My OS is 10.8.5. This is my computer specs as far as audio is concerned:

Devices:

Built-in Line Input:

  Input Channels:    2
  Manufacturer:    Apple Inc.
  Current SampleRate:    44100

I tried recording through Logic Express, Quicktime and Audacity but the only way I was able to record from my Mac Pro was output from the headphone jack through the M Audio MobilePre Preamp. There has to be a more direct way. Do any of you guys have any ideas?

look at it in a more positive light... maybe your tracks were so unique.original that he knew he couldn't pass them off as his own,,, then drink lots of tea

Knowing my own work, I doubt that's the case…then again, I do have some original sounding trax…

I thought that "Endless Fantasy" was one of the Milkytracker songs, and figured that the NES was there for show. I mean, the power LED is flashing on and off...

Actually, you're right. I asked Peter on Facebook and he said that the sounds were coming off of the laptop. He also said this, FWIW:

Peter Berkman wrote:

[W]e wanted to sync the NES but couldn't leave it up to chance if anything technical messed up.

So they WANTED to make it actual chiptunes, but the laptop was more reliable. Now you know!

Hey everypeoples!

Last week, I came out with a new album, called …and Jüs‡ic3 4 s0me. It was mastered by Shawn Phase and the artwork was by Animal Style.

here it is: http://ironcurtain.bandcamp.com/album/a … e-for-some

It's also available on iTunes, Amazon MP3, emusic, etc.

Enjoy!

Edit 1: Nota Bene: when searching on the non-bandcamp sites, the album is spelled "and Justice For Some" and the Track "|314c|< F33/\/1X" is called "Black Feenix". This is for cataloging and SEO purposes.

Edit 2: I renamed the title in bandcamp from "…and Jüs‡ic3 4 s0me" to "…and Justice for Some". works better for SEO purposes.

My upcoming album "…And Jüs‡ic3 4 s0me"–which was mastered by Shawn Phase and album-arted by Animal Style–will be released on April 2, 2013. Be Prepared!

I'm bringing 20 of my Aftermath CDs to sell. Why? Minusbaby did the album artwork. Sounds like a prime opportunity. B-)
