THE 3 STEPS TO THIS THREAD:

step 1. Post something fun to share with fellow chiptune enthusiasts!

step 2. Get immediately degraded for some random reason

step 3. feel bad

lol jake, my post here had little to do with our late night twitter-hating XD a number of people have "expressed" similar feelings, and I just think its a weird thing to get on the podium and rant about. because honestly.... who cares? streaming is fun. if you don't like it, well then don't watch it. but there isn't any need to shit on the people that do enjoy it.

you were lucky enough to just happen to have the largest thriving IRL chiptune community in the world right down the street. not everybody is so lucky.

IMO stream shows are cool precisely BECAUSE they are more, eh, candid(?) than regular shows. chipmusic started as a genre where there was very little separating the person in the audience from the performer on stage (still is really). even bigger shows like those that happen here, philly and NYC, often 80% of the people paying the cover charge are other chip artists! so web shows to me really feel like "how it was": a bunch of random internet people hanging out and playing music for each-other; only with the stream shows you can hang out internationally, which is SUPER AWESOME. But Ive seen some really weird, almost "vehement" opposition to it from some people, and i for the life of me cant figure out why that would be.

yeah sure this is "how do i dubstep my chiptune thread #7636-B", but I find it completely hilarious that the same scene that just got finished a whole month of circle jerking over moe moe kyunstep wants to flame a kid for asking how to do it

is pop music executed seriously? how about top 40 rock? how about club music? because that would be FUCKING HILARIOUS if so

I choose to believe that it's all some great conceit

props to dubmood for the active thread on the situation. this stuff happens so often that i think it's really helpful for all of us to see how these things develop (and hopefully get worked out) in a transparent way.

I do love our "chip music theft" lynch mobs, and I'm not saying that sarcastically or anything.

ooh this is noice

i just want to chime in as a contrary opinion to the others: I really enjoy writing with handhelds, so a LSDJ format genesis tracker would be very welcome to meeee. One thing that that format does better than anything else is "live mode", so an FM implementation of that kind of interface would be mega mega mega awesome. like potentially game changing if done well. I would grab a nomad for it in a second and jam FM funk. GOOD LUCK HELL YES
