there are a few venues that have been cool with chiptune, notably Pianos, The Knitting Factory, Trash Bar, Glasslands Gallery. I would highly suggest going with a known NYC chip booker though, as the scene in NYC is extremely tight knit and I think an 8BW/Computeher could be a cool occasion. Good luck!

that one of the rollercoaster is UNREAL level amazing. even his first one, the ram or buck or whatever, is incredible. the level of detail is just mind blowing. he sort of casually mentions that he'll spend years working on one, and i believe it.
also, i love that the one he's excited about now is called "space highway", which sounds exactly like something any youngin pixel artist would do hahah

perhaps you could say that the melodies are simple but the arrangements are very sophisticated. tons of melodic counterpoint, harmonies and voices coming in and out, lots of sonic variety in every song. i would easily argue that the amount of detail and MUSIC in those songs rival anything produced on the GB since.

this album is so good that even its 2nd re-release will bring J. Arthur Keene's out of hiding

wow, seriously great work! not just a thorough explanation but also well put together video and good tune. i know a few people have played with this concept (animal style has a tutorial from a few years ago that covers the basics of the concept), but talking about the possibility and actually mapping out all the frames by hand are completely different things. major props to you sir.
i have a feeling that this is going to be something that gets saved as a template and passed around on .lsdng files because everybody is way too lazy to do this all for themselves XD

Re: What are my options for releasing on vinyl? (71 replies, posted in General Discussion)
also worth noting is that a lot chipmusic is in inherently completely unsuited to the vinyl format. square waves below certain frequencies literally cause the needle to jump. plus you have to do all this mono mix stuff that will phase or sound terrible after pressing if you don't know exactly what you are doing.

all the recent little-scale eps are phenomenal, yet people are SLEEPING ON THEM. funny how someone can be so influential, yet also underrated
