The only advantage to more moderators would be additional perspective. I'm not trying to imply that that is even needed either. I think the mods who are active do a phenomenal job of keeping this place consistant.

However, it does seem redundant and dare I say hypocritical that most mods aren't even active here in any sense of the word, while its clear they are still active in the scene. I feel, somehow, betrayed. I came to this site because it was insanely helpful. People were really cool and more than that, diverse. (Looking at you saskrotch.) You could sense the relief everyone had from 8bc being over. It was great having the two parralels when both were still active.

Now I check this site multiple times a day. Its just another release that has potential but nobody cares about (however that new wizwars is amazing). Stuff about FM synths that I don't really understand/care about (my problem, not yours). And a healthy dose of just plain wtf is going on.

My original question still stands though: who owns this site? Someone is paying for it. Where is trash80? Is it under active development? What happened to the twitter feed? I think that was a great way to keep everyone on the same page. Weird as it may sound it felt like someone was watching down and in charge.

Is it possible that the chipmusic scene is just too big to really be contained in one community any more? A suggestion I would have would be to form a web ring of other related sites that serve a more specific interest.

I hope I don't sound like I'm just complaining, I'm just trying to understand what is going on and how we got here.

Maybe I came across the wrong way. I'm not asking to be a mod. I am just curious who's still here.

Tell me if I'm wrong but the fact that most mods are not active is a direct indicator of the decline and irrelevence of this site.

I guess the rule here is that an open web forum will never be able to replicate an actual community. It would be like having a party with friends and then anyone off the street expecting to be treated as equals.

As far as I'm aware, trash80 built it, but who maintains it? The only mods I see active are kitsch, nitro2k01, and lazerbeat. Who pays the hosting? Is it possible to get more active mods?

Overall, I'm curious to see the behind the scenes of this site.

Great prices! Someone snag a micro and the ezflash!

Also, 256m? Mother 3. Need I say more?

There's a ds homebrew that let's you flash slot 2 carts.

Thanks for that link. I'll probably pick a few up.

Can someone explain to me the advantage of a cf card vs SD? Is it correct that a cf card is essentially a compact PCI storage card? They also make 2x microsd to cf adapters, what would be the disadvantage of that?

I would still use the command. Takes about 1 second and at least we'll know.

Obvious solutions: try other USB ports, other cables, etc.

I think you need to give yourself permissions.
Try doing what the FAQ says here: http://lacklustre.net/projects/ems-flasher/faq.html

Did I sell you the game genie? Can't remember but if I did then I forgot to include the code manuals.

What exactly is the purpose of the nes  audio mod kit over just the traditional stereo mod?

Seems likely? This is what the ez flash iv does correct?

I remember a few years ago there was that guy who rigged up an SD based storage that if I recall correctly used the button input for like game input? Does anyone remember this? And his problem, of course was that saving couldn't be done without additional circuitry.

Legitimately, I'm a little bummed that it's SD based.  Especially if its not sdxc for the simple fact that in 4 years sdhc cards will be hard to find. Same problem I have with my ezflash and r4.

Discussing a price point hardly seems on topic. Maybe start a new general discussion thread about it? Lets keep this for actual news regarding the cart itself.

But hey I could be crazy.

Oh okay, that makes sense. I wasn't saying anything about the Mac mini, just the iMac. I must not have been clear, I wouldn't say the iMac is portable, just very much more portable than you'd think it is. The boxes they come in are relatively easy to repack for transportation as well.

But I've already poured way too much effort into this thread for something that is entirely inconsequential.

I read that probably 5 times and I still have no idea what you're trying to say.

Speaking of iMac portability, I ran into these fine people once in a hotel lobby:

FWIW I work for an apple reseller. iMacs are surprisingly portable, I would say for a live set up it would be fine. The new ultra thin 21.5" imacs aren't really that much heavier than a 15" non retina mbp. I always recommend a desktop if you can do it because you get so much more for your money (screen real estate, specs, etc).

However a recently discontinued 15 mpb upgraded to an ssd is a great option. Quad core processor with the ability to go 16gb ram is very free.

I also have access to pre owned macs that are in surprisingly good condition. If you know specifically what you're looking for I can check to see what we have. Generally these are a much better value for customers.

You can make money for that? Where have I been...

I'm interested to see price point on this. It's not nvram so if it's $100 like most of his carts are, that makes the drag n' derp a lot more desirable. However, if I understand correctly battery based storage isn't necessarily a bad thing. The fact the my Pokemon carts still save after 10+ years is a testament to that. It seems like I heard that early EMS carts had a power draw hardware bug that caused the batteries to only last a few months.

As long as they're easy to flash, I don't care. ASM's fighter carts are about the best quality wise I've really ever seen. I just need to fork out for a flasher and I'll be good to go.
