This isn't necessarily a topic about code/design. We should just talk more about what we like, maybe? The tools are already there...

This.

One (or a few) artists and many venues "should" be simpler than MANY artists and one venue?  Maybe?

What little I know about organizing stuff here in Finland, I would say no.

Btw, best sampler I know for iOS is definetly iMaschine. It doesnt have that many options but the interface/sequencing is nice.

I made this track by sampling stuff in my holiday in Egypt. Every piece here is just samples with iPod4's mic.

I love sampling. I also like to stretch, reverse and do other things to samples without really caring about the artifacts it creates, I think it is part of it. I like to do sequences (eg. drum loop or bassline or whatever) with mpc, then record those as loops to Live and then cut them again there to bits and rearrange them. I use the same method with synths too.

If I were you I would write all your tracks, find people to give you constructive criticism and don't release the EP until you are damn sure it is very good. Once you think it is release worthy, wait a couple of weeks without listening to it then see how you feel about it.

Actually I think this could work against you too. I know shit tons of musicians who have enormous amounts of cool gear, good songs etc but they just dont release them because they think they arent good enough.

I mean of course make best songs you can but sometimes getting better at things just requires you to just do that stuff as much as you can. There's little chance that the first EP or whatever will be masterpiece but it can be something really interesting and different!

well it's just so BORING

Yeah I would love to see more shitty ass web pages with terrible layout, ugly colors & with broken flash players and mediafire download links.

No other Dkstr I know of, but plenty of Dexters (one here too I think).

I do all of this expect the telecom part and I dont own a record label!

John Carpenter is such a badass that Ennio Morricone even copied his style on "The Thing".

Just to make clear, we were specifically asked to do the "missing" track to this comp, which was The Thing. I look it that way that this comp has all the best Carpenter movies in it, so The Thing missing would be a kinda bummer even though Morricone had more to do with it than Carpenter. And true, he emulates Carpenter pretty good:)

I know how you feel ! I played with a 500 some time ago...Pads are so stiff ! sad
Once you go to the 1000(and JJOS) you don't go back ! wink

Yeahhh, I was looking at the 500, but after hearing only negatives from you, zazi and some others, I think I'm either gonna go for a MAschine Mikro or save up for an MPC1000. Thanks for the unintended help!

Well its not that bad, you can always turn the velo off like I do and just set the volumes right, I like to work that way with drums and most of my gear (2xanalog synths and mGB every now and then) dont even recognize velocity so there goes that smile

But yeah I really really want a 1000 too but without job its not gonna happen anytime soon tongue

It really pisses me off that 500 pads arent sensitive at all, at the moment theres no use for velocity. Maybe I gotta bang them for another year:P
