how about the sandberg usb floppy drev does it also work?

Nope, still doesn't work, which makes this whole thing pretty strange. I tested different kinds of floppies too but got the same results.

Good to hear that USB floppy is better supported in Windows 10. Thanks Microsoft!

Yeah my floppies finally work but my Waves compressor plug-ins don't. I find this pretty hilarious.

hi
i am sorry that it don't work for you,

if i what to make sure that it work,
then i first i put sticky tape over high density hole,
i format it on the ST, and transfere the file from the pc to the Floppy.

make sure that the files are made under the 8.3 file naming or else the ST F..k up when you try to open it.

good luck and i hope that you get it to work.

I FUCKEN GOT IT. You have no idea how happy I am haha.

For some reason when I updated to windows 10 yesterday the "FORMAT A: /T:80 /N:9" process worked perfectly. I have no idea why, but hey. Time to make some sweet sweet jams.

Thanks so much for the help yall.

ups, i listed the wrong part earlier here is the right one.
my floopy is a Toshiba model no. PA3109U-1FDD

this floppy-drev also look like it would work
http://www.teac.co.jp/dspd/product/magn … 05pub.html

I ended up getting the Toshiba model you're using. I'm still having problems formatting 1.44s and it can't read my old 720s.

I'm convinced it isn't the driver that's the problem anymore so I wondered what exactly your process of running something on your atari is. How you transfer the files / format the floppy and such.

Sandberg USB Floppy Mini Reader
They specifically say it runs with both 1.44 and 720. Twice as expensive though. Will post if it works when it arrives.

Didn't work. Exactly the same results ¬¬

Fuck it, I'll look for an old Toshiba drive then.
Wish it wasn't the 3rd one I had to buy haha.

Ok cool. It feels kinda like gambling when buying these cheap usb drives. The product descriptions tend to be lacking some pretty relevant info. I can't even find any info about the producer or the model on the one I bought.

Maybe the 720kb floppy you have is defect and did you cover the hole of your 2HD with some scotchtape ?

I did try on 3-4 720kb DD disks as well as 3-4 1.44mb 2HD disks. Had the same results. Also tried the tape method. Pretty sure it's the driver.

How are you formatting the floppies? Should be using "FORMAT A: /T:80 /N:9"

I've never had issues with usb floppies formatting 720kb disks, but maybe I'm lucky.

Yeah that's what I tried but I just got this message:

Parameters not supported by drive,

i think the problem lies in the new cheap drive, so i would advise you to find a older drive (known brand) on EBay.

Alright, ordered a new drive. I'll hopefully have more luck with this one.

Hello Atari people heart

Trying to write maxYMiser on to some 720kb DD floppies. I bought myself a usb floppy disk driver, which I later learned didn't work for this use. Apparently most usb FDDs have weird limitations and can't do a lot of the imaging/formatting work that internal FDDs can (which I don't own).
Anyone know of a USB Floppy Disk Driver that can actually write .st images and use the fdrawcmd.sys driver? If not, what would you say is the best alternative?

I used the HDE External USB Floppy Disk Drive
Tried both Windows Vista, 7 and 8.
Also tried both blank 720kb DD and 1.44mb HD floppies.
I have an Atari 1040STE.

I very much appreciate any help at all

Fantastic! smile

One thing that sets this apart, I think, is that the mix is really open and clear, rather than being dark and condensed. I don't know if the method of choice (*cough*?renoise?*cough*?) has anything to do with it, but I've noticed that often times when people mix chip with guitar, either everything is all mushed up together so you can barely distinguish what is what, or the chip is really muddy and dark and unprocessed, while the guitar stands out way too much, what with the reverb and the bright-boost, etc, to where the "bit" and the "git" don't even seem to be "listening" to each other, so to speak.

I did a lot of mixing in Renoise before we recorded the guitars, but most was done in pro-tools 10 because we had way better plug-ins and tools in the studio. Renoise is great for mixing though, as long as you have your own plug-ins.
