Not to pick favorites, but I think the kind of thing that groups like Rochester Chip are doing gives the best of both worlds. MNT DST, the opening act from the show I played up there with Luke recently, had a really fantastic drone/ambient set that was not "chip" in the slightest but still meshed incredibly well with the rest of the evening.

just saw this today. this is exactly what we're going for!

does this happen every time you write something? on all the songs on the cart?

I'd try changing the carts internal battery first, then reflashing lsdj on the cart.

yeah id try reflashing the cart too.

also, sometimes in my experience, some gameboys just mess up. try another gameboy?

I want to make my own Nintendo cartridges for the songs and simple programs I write. I've got a programmer and a UV eraser. I'm not sure what chips I need to buy. I just need the help of someone who's done this a few times to correspond with via email a few times and answer some beginner questions.

Depending on how much help I actually end up needing, I would pay between $30 and $50.

Just get a PowerPak. Supports almost every mapper, has pseudo-expansion sound, and even plays NSF's. And they're built well. I have three and I've taken them on gigs around the world and I trust them 100%. Just rock solid.

I've been thinking about it, I'm just a bit worried about having compatability issues with Pulsar/NTRQ on my PAL NES.

just move to an ntsc region, problem solved. :-)

Our cheesy bitpop album 'Biscuit' came out two months ago. http://xyce.bandcamp.com

And I see Zabutom and Kaneel are already mentioned, their albums are awesome and should definitely be on that list.

i don't have net label experience per se, but i've put together two comp cds that i sell at shows i put on and "licensing" has never come up in conversation with any of 24+ artists i've talked to. it's rad you're taking this so seriously but most bands/artists are pretty laid back about this kind of thing too.

good luck!

i wouldnt have thought that backlighting the gameboy would affect the sound. but what do i know? did you try the pro sound out before you did the backlight?

did that one bit shifter song come out this year? if so, i vote that as the best release of the year.
