Mega memory cart is good for solo gameboy backups.

^This has saved my ass a few times. A MMC with a resent sav and a spare cart is something i always bring with me when I play live.

will an MMC back up all the songs on my cart or just the open song?

i use one to transfer gameboy camera files. i don't know why it never occurred to me to use it to back up music too. thanks!

Use LIVE mode to change things up a little.
Throw the sync mode into slave mode then back again to get a stutter effect.
Hook up an effect pedal or two.

yeah, i'm using live mode for this show. i wrote these songs in such a way where a lot of the main parts are kind of interchangeable, so i've been messing with the arrangements a lot when i practice.

i've never heard of this sync mode stutter effect! sounds really interesting, i'll try it out today.

also, i was considering using a second gameboy to play twinkly arpeggiated chords through my guitar delay pedal at future shows. i like the idea of using effects but i also really like the simplicity of just using a single gameboy and that's it.

Pretend to use live mode, but don't actually do it. That way you can't stuff it up.

lol.

also, thanks emar and akira for awesome advice!

okay got it.

i've played lots of shows with bands i've been in and i've used LSDJ with my band before (but that consisted of just hitting play, while i played guitar along with it). this saturday is my first time playing a show with just a single gameboy and LSDJ. any tips? stuff you hadn't thought of that you wish you had?

basically, i'm asking for some pointers / anecdotes about using LSDJ in a live setting. thanks!

damn, the white cart is so good looking.

Also, from personal experience, you'd be really surprised at how much your life can change if you simply start eating regularly and correctly, going to bed before midnight and waking up before noon, drinking water, and getting a little exercise every day. Meditating helps a lot, as well as reading and writing and drawing, not just music.

this.

i might be putting the cart before the horse here, but vegaplay could probably be modified to play vrc6 and vrc7 nsf's too, right?

i wouldn't buy a ton of stuff for making gameboy music before you've ever even used lsdj. download the rom for 2 bucks from the official site. and at least make one simple song with it before you buy a gameboy, a flash cart, the materials to do a pro sound mod, a midi interface, a midi keyboard, etc.

get the rom for two bucks, try the rom, THEN get other stuff (if you like it).

they look fine when i'm looking at them on the gameboy. i transfer them to the mega memory card and then to my 64 EMS cart. then i read the SRAM and get the sav file.

i've tried use the gb camera dump tool and i've tried this page - http://gieskes.nl/gameboy-camera/sav-converter/

no matter what i do, the pictures come out distorted and glitchy. any help?
