would they feature a chip cover of a rock song that tries to inject its own style or imagination into the original? would we call that a remix and not a cover?

Sure people would call that a remix and sure they would be wrong. Remix should always include original source material. If it doesn't, it's a cover.

99% of youtube users dont understand this. For them it is: Electronic cover = Remix

Comparing the kaossilator with a kaoss pad seems a bit unfair maybe.

I used a noise gate when I had a distortion pedal to my mic.

What would one call 2step made on chip hardware? Seems like chipstep is already taken, but 2-step came first. New genre names often makes me cringe and this is no exception.

Maybe you could hook up trash80's sound generator and get another channel of LSDj-ish wav synth.

Hasnt he already done something similar? I recall talking about the VIN input with him on IRC, maybe a year ago or something and I think he said that he had tried it out with LSDJ MIDI and an arduino with synth and sample playback. But he wasn't really satisfied with it or something, cant remember.

Or maybe I remember all wrong.

Switch S CMD function from FREE to Stable in Noise Instrument parameters

What version of LSDJ are you on? Newer versions more efficiently use the Sxx command in tables for noise sweeps instead of the Transpose column. Try giving that a shot

The S-command hasnt changed. But the transpose has. Before they both did the same. Now transpose works relative to the instrument shape, instead of current shape.

I think efficiently would be wrong to say. Its just a different way.  Unless I misunderstood.

noise instrument: add "S CMD" setting. "FREE" keeps classic S command

note: this change breaks backwards compability! to convert your old

    00 A1 --- ---
    01 84 --- ---
    02 74 --- ---
    03 00 --- ---
