I'm popping in to mention that I did propose a name change on this thread already on page one. I asked Peter to handle it not realizing at the time that he didn't have the authority to do so. I'm going to propose again that name change take place. If desired a new thread can be made to list vendors if one is desired here on cm.o.

Apeshit - I have little interest in "attacking" other store vendors and I don't regard this thread as such. I do maintain a list of other vendors on my website @ http://nonelectronics.com/vendors but don't have any desire for it to be considered a de-facto resource. This list is also linked to on the footer of my index page. You and Kitsch are both on it.

I am not here to control the flow of information. That's kind of why this thread was started in the first place; someone was (and still is) attempting to control the flow of information in an underhanded manner and we want it to stop.

Hi there. I've been messing around with BGB and Fceux on my Macbook using either Wine or Paralells running Win XP. In both cases the emulator will experience considerable temporary slowdown (2-4 seconds) when the processor moves on to other applications. I've been watching in activity monitor, and it appears small jumps in processor requirements from other apps is causing the issue. I'm not maxing out the CPU either.

Has anyone found a fix for this kind of slowdown? I'm looking to give win xp in parallels or wine processor priority. I couldn't possibly perform with this lag, and don't find writing as enjoyable with it either.

Hi! Is there a way to install this on OSX? I tried compiling the debian makefile but no luck. It's looking for things that aren't there.

MacBook-Pro-4:picoloop anbrad$ make -f Makefile.RtAudio_debian
mkdir -p debianrtaudio
g++ -O3 -Wall -I.. -DHAVE_GETTIMEOFDAY -D__LINUX_ALSA__ -c RtAudio.cpp -o debianrtaudio/RtAudio.o
RtAudio.cpp:5098:10: fatal error: 'alsa/asoundlib.h' file not found
#include <alsa/asoundlib.h>
         ^
1 error generated.
make: *** [debianrtaudio/RtAudio.o] Error 1

That is absolutely, 100% the hardest I have ever been Rickrolled.

*facepalm*

Well hey, there's a silver lining to this cloud: we now know that Matt Edwards owns 8bitcollective.com. I hope he does something cool with it.

OS Version - [Mode] [Alpha] [S] enters a self test that starts counting up from 0 when I push [ENTER]. Seems to increment at about 1 a second. Interrupting the process cleared my memory. There are a lot of ways to accidentally wipe these. =/ Anyways, I'm guessing I didn't do what you wanted me to do.

I'll have to reinstall crash and ht2 to see if i can recreate the issue.

Oh yeah, I noticed the key repeat is waaaaaay faster on a ti-82 than a ti-83+.  I'm finding it quite easy to accidentally drop multiple notes when I mean to just enter one. Why is this?

I got TiLP working (with about an hour of help from a software developer). The issue was dependencies and pkg-config not behaving as expected. I had used a few different package installers, macports, brew to try to get the dependencies and pkg-config had no idea where they were.

Brew helped a lot in the end, as it installs to the same directories as pkg-config.

The developer mentioned that we could probably benefit from making a brew keg to automate this process. I can see this install process being a huge barrier to entry for curious enthusiasts as-is.

Sadly, I don't think that will work.  The official graph link software doesn't support the TI-82, which is the particular monster I am trying to tame at the moment.

I'm sloooooowly making progress with this nightmarish TiLP install. Got ticables2 installed, that's the latest dependency tilp is throwing. Now I have this (even though I can see the .pc file in usr/lib/pkg-config, what gives, path stuff?):

configure: error: Package requirements (ticables2 >= 1.3.0) were not met:

No package 'ticables2' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables TICABLES_CFLAGS
and TICABLES_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

I purchased a few TI-82s and would like to get HT2 on them. I attempted to get TiLP installed on my Mac (El Capitan) and had a hell of a time.  Installing packages so I can install packages so I can install other packages. Threw in the towel tonight after about an hour of installing packages in terminal. Is there a more straightforward way to do this?

Libticables2 wants glib, glib wants libffi. This is where I surrendered.

I updated the description, thanks for the info. http://nonelectronics.com/ti/ti-graphlink

We just got a batch of 8 x TI-82s in! smile

Hi there. Nonfinite Electronics is adding a section to our shop focused on Houston Tracker 2. We are currently stocking accessories for Texas Instruments devices, (adapters and official TI silver link/graphlink cables,) and have plans to add more.

See details here:

Hey there chip citizens! I received quite a few emails over this last week asking when Hex DMG kits would be back in stock. I figured I'd put the word out to the community, we've got 20 of them in now and ready to ship.

You can find them at http://nonelectronics.com/hexdmg - These get purchased multiple times a day, sometimes in quantities of 5-10+ by enterprising, entrepreneurial #8bit and #chiptune fanatics who are modding customized Game Boys for customers. That means if you want one, (or more,) you better get on it quick!

We will be restocking when we run out of course.

Coming soon - Arduinoboys!

Thanks everybody, keep on doing what you do.

2.00 stable, I believe. The folder says HT200, so that would make sense.

I did quit playback, loaded up a new slot just to be sure playback wasn't going.

It's entirely possible I neglected to activate Alpha.  Ooh, idea. Maybe show a little text on the bottom of the screen similar to the load/save conf when someone pushes ON without Alpha enabled: "ALPHA+ON to Exit" or something like that.  With no feedback on a button press one sometimes wonders if the message was received.

Oh cool, I stumbled on this track somewhere else like a week ago.

I like the piano DPCM samples, it's a smart way to allow use of two notes in one channel. I do think the samples stand out a bit too much in the mix, however, and without any change to the actual structure of the samples they get a bit tiring on the ears, similar to how the same kick snare chain in a fruityloops track might get to a person after a while. We need subtle changes to keep our brains thinking "this is novel."

There was a famicompo track that had been submitted something like, oh, 2009 I think.  It made it into the top three if I recall, and it used the same piano concept. It was a lovely piece. I liked it so much I set it as my morning alarm tone for a number of months, back when people still used custom ringtones. Anyways, if I recall the reason this track didn't win the gold was similar - the samples were what made the track unique, but also what caused it to be limited in scope.

If you're not dead-set on staying strictly in the 2a03 chipset, I'd consider recording those notes on a different platform, (a real piano would be pretty sick) so you can add more dynamics to it. You may even find yourself making some changes to the chip part of the song as you introduce other elements. A slight slowing in tempo between sections of the song comes to mind as a plausible addition. Everything else sounds great.
