I cranked it.  Peaking.

Hey, graveyard bump.  Has anyone out there figured out a way to record the click track off one of these babies and send it back as a means of setting up sync?  I want to try using a measure of recorded click track and sending it BACK to the same unit as a means of setting a DAW up as master.  I did get a recording of the click track.  It appears to hit every 8th note.  I sent it back to the PO-12 but it doesn't seem to pick up on it.  Why might this be?

I remember when David Sugar told me he had stepped away from LSDJ because he had gotten everything he could out of it.  Then, a year or so later, people started doing those mad WAV dubstep wubs.

JodyBigfoot, there are a TON of areas you can focus on while staying in LSDJ/nano.  A TON TON TON TON TON TON TON.  Remember, these are musical instruments.  Similar to guitar, you wouldn't learn how to play a couple chords then say you were ready to move on to the next thing.  You'd write a song, you'd perform it, you'd record it.

Here are some things you can do with LSDJ/nano that will improve your abilities with ALL future platforms:

1. Get really good at one and two channel delays.
2. Get a basic knowledge of chord structure.  If you're already using arpeggios, try changing your habits around and pick something new.  Simply stepping my arps down from 0C to 0B changed the sound of my music significantly.
3. Perform somewhere.  Preferably for people that don't like chipmusic.  Do so well at it that you convert them.
4. Treat that DMG as an instrument, not as a self-contained universe.  Add some guitar on top of your music.  Write lyrics and sing along with it. Make it accessible.
5. Cover a song you hate - turn it into a song you enjoy.

I could go on and on.  Now that you have some knowledge of your instrument, do something cool with it!

Oh man, no, I'm not dead.  I just started a new job this week and I'm a bit buried.  I'll delve into my inbox and find you first thing in the morning.  Sorry for the wait!

Hey Nick.  I grabbed a unit with a disc before leaving for Little Sound Assembly, it should be here in a day or two.  Grab yourself a GBA player too!

Will a japanese model work in a US GameCube?  The Japanese ones come in better colors and are about half the price.

Didrik, that's all really good advice!  Will a GBA player work without the startup disc?  Most of the auctions I see for them say "no disc - tested works!!!1one" or something similar.

I'll ask Oliver about updating his software.  Can't hurt, right?

KeFF, I recorded the GBA and vocal audio directly on the Camera mic AND separately using a Tascam digital recorder plugged in to a mixer.  I'll be able to overlay the audio in the future.

I desperately want to do a music video of me jamming out to my GBA in various places around my city using a head mounted camera.

OK, update time!

The Kickstarter has been cancelled.  I evaluated what was actually necessary to make this happen, and I can do it a lot cheaper.

New filming equipment is on the way, so you can expect more material to start coming out around August 20th.

In the interim, you can watch my latest tutorial on nl 2.7 (filmed 8/6/2014).  After watching it, you will understand why I need better filming equipment.

Nanoloop 2.7 Improvisation Tutorial

http://youtu.be/lTCkDjVH8OQ

Hey Everybody,

I've been heavily involved with the new nanoloop 2.7 release, and am really fascinated by the expanding potential of this software. In the interest of making it easier for others to use nl to its full potential, I have decided to put together a video tutorial series on the basics, advanced controls, and finally, how to get the most out of nl in an improvisational scenario.

I NEED YOUR HELP! Please aid me by either backing this project or by advertising this fundraiser on whatever feeds you may have access to. It would be extremely helpful, and if successful, would bring all kinds of new interest to this often underutilized and misunderstood piece of software.

I'm hoping to raise $400 via Kickstarter, just enough to cover the cost of a GoPro and a microphone.

Please help out!

I would classify both of these artists as tech-house/techno.

For reference, x|k's three amazing albums:

Delta's stuff gets nice, fast and gritty, and has minimal elements, which I like.

Does anyone have artists or tracks they could recommend?

Varia5uit Mods are now up at the shop.

Would installing a 100 ohm 1/4 watt resistor to the colored wire be the way to go?

Correct.  Solder to the non-black wire.

Hey guys, the trim pots I'm using go from 1-220 ohms, so anything in that range will work for you.  33 will still keep that backlight nice and bright.

I'm going to add Varia5uit mods to the shop today, good idea.
