This is super late, but in case anyone needs it, there's a sample pack of SGM midi sounds over on the SunVox forums here: https://warmplace.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1445#p5676

Pretty good pack of fairly high-quality sounds!

Yo, kiarchive seems like it went down, which is a shame, I think, haha. That's how I found the FastTracker sample pack.

EDIT: Never mind, Kiarchive is still up.

Thought that this site had gone down too for a second, haha.

Got kinda scared!

OK, so it's over, and the votepack has been released! Comes with the songs in their source .sunvox files as well as a handy really cool-looking player for... playing them. Check it out:

Compo's over (I think). If you're still sitting on something, submit it (even though it's past the deadline) and maybe NightRadio will be cool and let it in.

Ah, that's unfortunate. I figure I'll give it a shot, though I also have projects that I'm working on.

@Xuriik - And no problem!

P.S. If anyone wants to participate and just doesn't feel like they know Sunvox well enough to do anything with it, I've got a video tutorial series up on my YouTube channel here:

I'd like to contribute, if possible!

Hey, there.

So NightRadio's throwing another Sunvox compo, this one allowing use of any effect, but only FM and Drumsynth... Synths. Haha. Zip packaged song's gotta be smaller than 64KB. Should spawn some great songs, I'm sure!

Anyway, feel free to check it out. The deadline's March 2nd.

I dunno how many actual songs I made last year - not many, I'm sure. For beats, more, but still not a lot.

I'm trying to make a video game every week or so now, though, which would require at least one track per game, so I guess I'm gonna step it up considerably.

Might've been my first song in Sunvox, though not my first chiptune or song created ever by a long shot. Unfortunately, I don't know if I could find my first ever; I'm pretty sure it's been lost to the sands of computers for decades now.

PS There's a new beta of Sunvox you can try out! It's available on those forums. yikes

Hurrah, it's over. I started a track, but needed more time to finish it. Ah, well. You can vote on the submissions here.

Not sure what this adds to the discussion at hand, but it's pretty crazy to hear an Anamanaguchi song on a Target commercial, haha. Pop It's a good song, too. So it's possible to blend chiptune and mainstream effectively.

Hey! A couple of years ago there was a Japanese competition with the Pxtone music creation tool, and the results of what talented Japanese artists came up with is extraordinary. Just goes to show how different people's approaches to the same things are.

There's a lot of chiptune-ish sound in there, but also more modern tracker sounds. In any case, the results are really, really, REALLY great, like this by "Saiph" or this by "take" (those are straight mp3 file links, so be aware if your browser doesn't handle them well).

Wonder if any of these dudes would get on ChipMusic.org if they knew about it. yikes

EDIT: Changed the title - this isn't just about the winners. ;u;

Yeah, it is really cool. I'm gonna participate in the compo as well - I've got something pretty good so far, I think, though it's just a base at the moment.
