i've got a suggestion though to solve the wide screen issue. the log-in and search fields could be moved to the top right of the page, next to the header. the who's online tab could go to the bottom of the page, since it's not very important information. so the right side bar would not be needed anymore.

also it would look even prettier if the whole page could be centered rather than tied to the left.

What widescreen issue?

at the moment cm.org only looks good if you have a widescreen. for small laptop screens the layout is too wide.

hi Peter,

yes that's what i meant.

no it is a hardware limit of the YM2149 chip, you can have noise in all 3 channals but only one noise frequency

that limit applies only if you have more than one noise instrument playing at the same time. if you use noise instruments one after another, each should use their own frequency setting. however, at the moment they don't reset properly. if you have a snare on channel 2 and afterwards some hihats on channel 1, the hihats will play at the frequency of the snare instead of using their own setting.

- Display total length of envelope---- Length of the sound if nearly impossible, due to the fact if you use Sustain-Hold the sound can run infinite.

in this case just display the length from attack start to release point.

The Amp Modulation is for tremolos, but if you make a sound where the start volume is 255 and the sustain is also 255 and sustain hold is on.
then if you use the amp-mod, it will work like a Envelope i can send you some instruments to illustrate it.
I can't make i any diffident because i don't have any more space in my instruments, only a few byte left.

ok, i can live with that. now i have to find out how to make my beloved envelope-only instruments (without tone or noise) wink

hi. i have some more feature requests for you, this time mostly related to editing. i'm sure you have planned some of these already, just to make sure here it goes.

- Porous Paste - paste marked section over or under score data already present in the insert range.
- Transpose only selected instrument in marked section
- Possibility to change all instrument occurances in marked section

also i believe i found another bug. when there are noise instruments playing consecutively in different channels, noise pitch values will be overwritten by the channel with the highest priority.

Don't know what you exactly mean here.

1) If the editor window is maximized, it hides behind the Windows Start button and whatever you have down there, so bottom part of the window is not visible.

2) At the moment it is rather impossible to determine how long a note will sound. Therefore the total length of the volume envelope in note bars should be displayed somewhere.

just click in the score windows where you want the edit line.

ah yes, got it. understood what "Rel" does, too.
There should also be a Note Stop which stops sound of an instrument immediately.
The volume envelope should work like the Amp Modulation works now. The Amp Modulation could be a LFO instead, to make tremolos.

if you could change background color in different place of the score. eg. if the background color of the first 8 bars was blue, and the next 16 bars was red and so on, i think it would provide a better over view.

yes, that's a very good idea. and reserve some screen space for some colored, clickable squares representing the bar colors of the active sections.

looking forward to the next major update wink

Hi Peter,

tried your YM tracker. I really like the overall concept and design of it. However I think it still needs some work to be really useful.
Here's a quick list of things that could be improved, maybe I'll add more later.

Bugs:

- Window ignores the Taskbar. Maybe add Fullscreen mode to avoid this.

- Changing the Synth Wave form seems to have no effect on the actual sound. (Maybe I'm doing it wrong though.) EDIT: yes i was doing it wrong. nevermind.

- Some typos. Arpeiggio should be Arpeggio, Node should be Note and efx are commonly abbrevated as FX.

Improvements:

- More FX should allowed in score fx column, especially arpeggio. This problem we have already with MusicMon, great instrument editor but for every little change you have to make a new instrument, which wastes a lot of space and is annoying for composers.

- The yellow bars in the vibrato/arpeggio editor should reflect the current state of the settings, rather than snap back to zero.

- Instrument editor is a bit confusing. More documentation is needed here. For example why have 2 knobs that say "Tone" resp. "Noise"? Of course the question here is where the envelope is applied. You should make that more clear somehow.

- Display total length of envelope.

- The currently edited line should be in the center of the score view, not on top.

Feature requests:

- SNDH export. Few people here will know how to convert/rip tunes from non-standard format.

- A little tab that enables you to quickly move around in the score (sequencer view). I like your concept of having a continuous score rather than single patterns. However without an overview tab it will get rather confusing.

- Freely configurable envelopes. ADSR is not enough.

- Note stop. What's "Rel" by the way?

Cheers and keep up the good work!

edit: added some stuff. also found out how to move sliders slowly and how make 100 hz instruments.
