I'm really confused now because I thought Low-Gain invented the pro sound mod!! xD
This looks really cool though, hopefully you can do some fun stuff with it! Maybe the wasted address space that was used for the mirrored RAM that nitro2k01 was talking about could be used for an extra soundchip instead (ps. I have no idea if this is how GB/Z80 works)? That would be quite cool (although new software would have to be created I guess).
It looks fun anyway.

Actually, I'd say that's what MOST people do, and it's a shame in my opinion. It's why there are tons of technically proficient and "good" chipmusic out there with absolutely no personality...sometimes sound design isn't pushed hard enough. I like to see the perfect marriage of both, which is what I've seen from Nullsleep, Bit Shifter, Zen Albatross, exileFaker, glomag, a few more.

I'd say the most personality-ful pieces of piano music aren't the ones for prepared piano, and the vast majority guitar/saxophone/organ/etc music just relies on the sound of the instruments. Does that mean it has no personality? I think the complete opposite is true really - anyone can make a gameboy say BLARGLEBLARGLEBLARGLE!

Not really IDM but DJ Fresh (maybe you have heard of this guy, apparently he is quite famous) says in an interview "When I was about 12 I started getting into making demo music on an Amiga. My first vinyl release was done in OctaMED!"
