Teen_Age_Kicks is the third collection of music to see itself being presented on the website http://aaanaaanaaanaaana.hostzi.com/, whatever that means. It is what many people would call an "EP". Available are several files which you may or may not enjoy. Three of the files contain mp3 format audio streams which can be decoded and played back through speakers. A fourth file contains an image in the jpeg format. There's also the option of downloading an archive file which contains all of the rest of it. Get it while it lasts for a discount price of 0.00 Zimbabwean dollars.
ps: the creator has described this as "micromusic". It's not pure by anyone's standards but it has arps and a lo-fi feel. Influences from Hertzcanary and Overthruster apparently.

I thought all the songs are separate already in an lsdj sav? Why the need to take many (gbs) songs from one (lsdj) song?

I think anything with MIDI can do that if you buy something expensive like a MIDI->GB or whatever it's called. I think Low-gain will sell you one.

Re: WIKIPEDIA definitions for chiptune and fakebit (49 replies, posted in Constructive Criticism)
Chip music: Any music composed using source file formats (.nsf, .sid. .sap, etc.) that can be emulated or played on real hardware.
Fake bit: Any music composed using samples of source file formats.
Nuttshelled
How about polly tracker sids? VST? Samples which aren't from source file formats? What's real hardware and what isn't? Is a 386 with soundblaster "real hardware"? Is ahx fakebit? Is music made with more than one system and mixed in modern software (little-scale springs to mind) fakebit? As for "respected [sic] hardware", Amiga and PC are mod and IT's hardware respectively and you can play mods on amiga and IT on PC, so what's fake about that?
The fakebit article should just be deleted/merged with the chiptune article, it doesn't seem to contain any useful or interesting information.

Yes that's a good idea since the 8bc wiki died and chipmusic.org doesn't have one.

Re: Official IRC Channel! (68 replies, posted in General Discussion)
if you're using chatzilla you need to change where its trying to log in
old one was irc://esper.net/
new one is irc://optical.esper.net/
no idea why. mibbit does it automatically but i had to change it in chatzilla
i was pretty confused for a few days. some server migration i suppose?
this may apply to other IRC clients as well
i was able to use a web based client like mibbit with no issues
Optical is in Europe, and since the recent attacks I think it's the only one left in Europe. It's probably better for them and better for you if you connected to one a bit closer to home. irc.na.esper.net should pick a suitable north-american one.

Fucking hell man, people here are extremely sensitive. We're discussing technicalities of the label with the label owner. Now go back to the sandbox!
I was adding my own views to the discussion. If you wanted it to be private there is a PM function which works well. Ugh whatever, nothing more to be expected from chipmusic.org...

On the other hand, you can't edit the song while it's playing if it's scrolling. Not that that matters much if you're just copy pasting a kick drum on every step for the whole thing, I guess. LSDJ interface seems like quite a good idea for this PULSAR tracker, I really like the tables in LGPT, they are a good way of making instruments and sounds.

Re: WIKIPEDIA definitions for chiptune and fakebit (49 replies, posted in Constructive Criticism)
Sorry to be an asshole but I preferred what the fakebit page said before. I don't use it as a derogatory word (I'd call most of my own tracks fakebit) and I basically do just define it as any "chippy" songs made with VSTs and samples. I thought that was the popular definition but I guess I was wrong!
The article for chiptune looks like an improvement though. Even if it says "Chicago-based I Fight Dragons uses modified Nintendo game controllers to produce chiptune-centric power pop tunes."
