If the footballers' wages were paid by the state, I could see Edward Shallow's point. But they aren't, they are paid for by people who love football and think it is worth spending money to go to football matches and to watch football on the television. So it's no problem with the system that they get so much money, football is just very popular. smile

edit, haha oops!

Thanks, hehe! smile

The art is by Prag Modul's wife/girlfriend, not him, I think. Just thought I'd point that out, looking forward to this compilation though! smile

Does that mean it'll run all those different programmes people use on their monomes?

If so..swish!

I think the programs don't run on the Monome, the Monome is just controlling something on a PC/Mac (maybe I'm wrong though).

All my last.fm recommendations are rubbish. Dweeble, there was one organised by Edinburgh University a few months ago but it didn't really work/take off.

There are so many chip musicians who are really nice and great guys, which is why up until now, this forum had no whining threads like this one. Every chip musician I've spoken to pretty much has been a really nice, friendly, helpful person.

Lighten up a bit! smile

Ok I got a cool challenge for ENSO. You have to create a " One eyed one horned flying purple people eater" only using this palate.

have fun....

Purple monster from a palette with no purple? smile

The Manual by The KLF? tongue

I think it's fake, since it took less than a second for my 4 megabyte file to be uploaded.

Everyone talks about 8bitcollective.com like it's Lord Voldemort here. Is there any need to call it "that other site" or "a certain other site"? We all know which one you mean.

Why would the compilation be better organised at 8bc than here?

Seems like a cool idea. smile

You can still post about Adlib without having a special subforum! smile

hey, i make a LOT of music too sad

Which is why you're at a site called chipmusic, I guess. smile

I think it is right click to get the menus (not sure though, I don't have it in front of me) and you can change the resolution in one of the menus too.

Are you talking about how nowadays you can digitally simulate any instrument for any genre? Call me a purist, but hardware always sounds cooler than the digital version. *coughrockguitarscough* big_smile

No, just saying that gear is not important compared to results. Maybe you need a guitar to make rock music, but not an expensive guitar.

I personally very much enjoy tracked chiptunes and such for the PC (more than Game Boy music, actually), but it's a matter of taste. I think you are focusing too much on what you gear you 'need' or what gear you can buy, rather than the music, which is 100% the most important thing. I know some people are "gear-aholics", but this isn't retroconsolesandcomputerscollecting.org, it's about music. I'm not trying to be unfriendly or discouraging, but I wouldn't want anyone to think that spending money will help them make better music. smile The bottom line from me is:
don't buy anything else, you don't need it.

yeah, chipmusic is one of the few kinds of music where gear is not important. just do it! smile

Yeah, along with rock, punk, pop, house, trance, drum 'n' bass, hip hop, reggae, a cappella, ambient, jazz, metal, blues, techno, funk, breakbeat, soul, country, rap, disco, and a few other genres (these ones), chipmusic is indeed one of those styles where the music is more important than what it's made with.

If you have Nanoloop, LSDJ, and XPMCK already, you don't need to get anything else. Quit looking for an excuse to spend more money and start writing some music already.
