Honestly, just level everything within LSDJ and record it all at once out of the DMG and it will sound fine. I'm sure you read on here that people say it's best to record each channel solo and mix it that way but there is no need when it can be all done in LSDJ....
ummm...
I'm not good at giving criticism and since I haven't uploaded any music on here yet (all my uploaded tracks were on 8bc.org and I haven't put them on here yet) I really shouldn't be criticizing. I think I like what I can almost hear but everything got mashed up during mixing. Try mixing all of your levels within LSDJ, rerecord the track and don't use effects. I think it might sound much different.
To the guys criticizing Teh D3th St4r for building chiptune gear without having written any songs yet (Downstate, DKSTR), maybe you guys should google Leo Fender. Leo Fender built up a brand of guitars that is now one of the biggest in the world but yet, Leo Fender did not know how to play guitar.
You can do video out on DMG it just requires a lot of work. Actually, djtransformer.com offers a video out adapter but it's really pricey and honestly, you'd probably never get it if you ordered from him. But it is possible.
You should have made the DMG completely internal and wired it up to have video out and mounted a LCD screen upright from the back. Then you should have wired a NES controller port onto the front of it so you could plug in a NES controller and control the DMG via that.
Ok that totally makes sense. I just thought it was funny that you are doing a bigger build/mod than most people would do then you ordered a pretty basic modded DMG. But yea, a cherry on top makes sense.
Any idea what all mods you are planning to do to this or are you just going to add things as you build?
So don't take this as a rude comment because this whole thread is pretty awesome so far but I would like to clarify something... You are building a pretty sweet rig from the ground up and then you ordered a premodded DMG? The mods to that DMG are kindergarten compared to what you are building. Did you buy a premodded DMG just to save time?

Random came to town not too long ago from SD for shit's and giggles I guess but it was a one time gig. Out of the four of us remaining (that are currently known) two are heavily underground; me and this other guy who I know by name, not by handle. And two brothers who are separate acts: 10SPD, and Ianflux. Shit sucks man...I'm dying to do a show; things continue this way I may go bananas and do a flash mob. Either that or wait till I move back to Cali, but waiting for that would be a sinking ship of my ambitions.
Yuma is a small town so it's not surprising that it's horrid. I think there's one person here in Tucson who does chip and I do chip when I can (school, work, and the wife take up a lot of time) but I did do a set at a house party in 2011. What about in Phoenix? Phoenix isn't far so that can still be considered local? There aren't people there doing chip? I know a guy who has a good PA system that is a DJ and party promoter that might help set up a show here in Tucson if there was enough interest.
Maybe saying it's strange is a bit negative. I would just prefer a midi to .sav feature and not vice versa. I usually write melodies and stuff in reason using a midi controller then copying it to LSDJ. Maybe midi thru is what you're looking for?
Edit: viewed that thread posted by egr and realize I have no idea what I'm talking about. Seems like a lot of work and, for me, a useless feature but if its works and you write great songs, then good on ya.
I don't think there is anything that does that because that is really strange. Why would you write a chiptunes track then convert it to fakebit?
Great project mate! Coming along well! Any chance I can buy that a/c jack from the DMG from you? I have a back PCB that needs a jack so I could use that a/c jack if you don't need it now.
@kitsch: any recommendations for a potential jack? I know I can just bridge the contacts to bypass the need for a jack at all but I use the power adapter often on the DMGs.
I need some DMG case screws. I had a whole bag but seemed to have misplaced them. If anyone has some I can buy or know of a site that sells screws that will work, let me know. I need enough to fully assemble 2 DMGs (case and PCBs).
I also either need a back PCB or the DMG power jack to solder onto a back PCB. I have a back PCB that came with an eBay lot that has the power jack desoldered. So I can use that piece if someone has one to spare?

and he has an 1/8th jack with wires attached both as a prosound kit and labeled under bending
Yea there's numerous discrepancies on his site and he doesn't have the best reputation either. Only reason I bought from him was 'cause he's the only one I could find that has white DMG button sets. Now I'm just crossing my fingers hoping he actually ships them...
I see... I submitted an order to stickerguy back in October. They said it would be 5 days until shipment. After 2 weeks, I contacted them and they said their printer for doing full color stickers was down and they didn't know when it would be up. I was kind of mad they didn't contact me about that. So I cancelled my order and used 123stickers. Got them in 2 weeks and was happy with them. Hopefully stickerguy improved their service.
who is printing the stickers for you?
