to get back on track, there was a programmable cart released for the Vic-20, however you'd need to recompile Vic-Tracker to run in the cart space, or have it unpack to memory from the cart. (both probably more hassle than just having a disk drive)

Sorry, man. I can't do fakebit stuff. Just doesn't feel right, you know? Keepin it real.

using an emulation of a real device isn't "fakebit".

Vic-20 and c64 disks are interchangable so if you know someone/have something that can transfer files from PC to c64 you can do it that way.

Doing the transfer on the Vic-20 itself is going to be an absolute pain, when I do mine I copied them to tape. (using WAV-PRG)    (you'd need a C2N tape drive to do that but it's the absolute cheapest way to transfer files from PC to Commodore 8-bits)  To get them onto disk I use a C64 and TAPE2DISK to do the transfer. (I have no expansion memory so it's the only way for me)

Oh Fisichella is arguably a better music tool on there if you write loop-based stuff.  Neither of them do the fancy "new waves" though.

tbh though I'd just stick with an emulator.

thanks, we will return in 2016.

With chipmusic if you have interpolation switched off you do need a pretty high kps to avoid a lot of compression artifacts, probably more so than with traditional music. (rather ironic) Personally when using mp3 I go for CBR and 320kps.   An alternative free codec is CELT, it's not well supported yet but offers pretty good playback at low ratios.

6502 is easier to get into than z80. Maybe try writing for the NES first and then go to Gameboy?  They share a lot of traits in the graphics and audio.

I knocked this out in a few hours if you want the source.

hang on, the front page shows the most popular topics in each forum, including the releases section.  does that mean we're giving one album an unfair advantage by posting in the topic a few more times?  of course not.   why is this different to acknowledging one track is "better" than another or at least more popular than another one?

Latest Topics, not most active topics.

how come I posted in a 2010 topic and it went to the top of the page?

why are you all so bothered about track X being rated higher than track Y anyway?

why not just keep the stuff on your HDs and not upload it anywhere. jeez it's okay for other people to like things.

these are sensible words.

at least a "who's playing what" window would help.  then again I guess the releases section IS the music section here.

"Nathalie" is a very pretty song with a nice atmosphere. Any particular reason for not including it on "Surrender"?

it never got past one pattern. though the riff turned up again in "Broken Heart"
