i think the difference is that none of those things have ever been a novelty, at least not in the last 100 years

Heh, used that for a while in the '80s. (before Ubik's Musik came out)  Had a go at it recently and it's not fun to edit with tbh.  One thing I remember is you can playback your songs outside it with SYS 30120

iirc The Mighty Bogg got some good stuff out if though, see this
