I wouldn't waste my time selling moded DMGs for $80-$90. It's not worth my time cleaning the screen and such. I mean, I do it myself, but I would never do it for others, its just impractical, tedious, and a waste of time. My hat goes off to those who do.

Though- for just a Prosound mod, its a total waste of money. But hey, what do I know?
I think most physically able people can perform it without issue with a $1 soldering iron. I wish more people do.  My introduction into electronics was fueled by the demands of my art. The things I've learned along the way have put me in a better place both musically and financially.

donno...

mode:

1- lsdj slave sync- leds should dance to tempo sync from external source
2- lsdj master sync- leds should dance to tempo sync from lsdj when lsdj is set to master mode
3- lsdj keyboard mode- leds should do something to midi input from a source i think (dont recall)
4- nanoloop mode- same as mode 1 as far as leds dancing
5- mGB mode- leds should light up according to activity on midi channels. ie: midi notes on midi channel 1, the first led should blink, etc.

I come out with a release once every 5 years. I have another 2 years to complete my next release.

*edit* I was trying to do this, but only came up with 1 track so far.

How do you switch between midi master mode and the lsdj midi out mode if it has no buttons?

I change the code.

Thank you guys very much for your help. Nothing sems to work so I'll just leave it for a while and get back to it latter. Maybe with more fancy arduinoboy.

I just remembered something else, if you are not using the Gameboy's data out pin/wire (the wire that should be plugged into a.in 1), short it to ground. it wont work otherwise due to the hackery of making the gameboy communicate faster.

I've always wondered how hard it would be to take a DMG casing, make a mold and then cast it out of aluminium or something. I might give it a try some day, I've done work like that on smaller items. Wonder how well or poorly that would work.

I imagine that making a mold of the external looks of a DMG wouldn't be too difficult. The problem is the inside and making two pieces that can fit together. I'm also not too sure that you can cast aluminum with such precision without professional equipment.

it would be a injection mold and cold casting, ie: grinded up aluminum flakes and epoxy. I would imagine you dont need to injection mold or a 2 part mold if you put on the screw pegs and shit after the fact.

This is why we cant have nice things.

Yeah that arduinoboy mini was programmed with a FTDI cable by yours truely. wink

Technically you can rewire the midi in jack to be midi out, but it would require good soldering skills and alittle know-how if you're up for the challenge I can try to assist. also it would have to be flashed of course, and NOT with the code on the arduinoboy site, I had to change some of the wires and code out- so its a bit different.

it would technically change the impedance, unless i missed something.

@herr_prof and trash80 ,ive been having a bit of trouble getting the midi out to work.. heres where Im at. I have a stock trash80 arduinoboy , the most recent version of lsdj flashed on my cart(I can see the new midi out tab on the songscreen) and an emx1. I have used the arduinoboy backwards and can make my electribe start/stop and tempo sync the gameboy , but i am having trouble wrapping my head around how you guys are flashing the arduino code?   i downloaded the maxpatcher but im getting myself confused over here. any help would be awesome !! thankyou

There is no such thing as a stock Arduinoboy. Is it a scienceguy8 arduinoboy? If so you need a FTDI cable as mentioned earlier in this thread...

The first couple of tries, I got games to work perfectly after cleaning each one thoroughly with alcohol and an air duster to blow out any remnants of dust before popping it into the system.

What kind of alcohol? You need to use 99% isopropyl alcohol. Others might leave a residue or dry tacky, making the situation worse. You can get some locally at Fry's electronics or possibly radio shack.

I’ve tried different Gameboys, or even placing insides of the cart into classic game case(gray), but it's still not working:(

weird. try cleaning the metal contacts on the pcb with 99% isopropyl alcohol, electronics contact cleaner, or worse case a pencel eraser to see if it maybe just has dirt / film gunk on it.

I'd suggest trying another gameboy to make sure its the cart and not the cart jack on the gameboy. If its the cart, I'd probably just find a decent cart that works and replace its guts with the guts of the usbcart, and of course alter/cut the casing for the usb jack.

me? yeah, more functional, less space. I also sold a bunch of gears to break it down to the essentials.
