well Renoise will have some sort of grid like control. (though I don't recall the details) There is also Fruity which I think has a sort of "live mode."
Both of which are not nearly as matured as what Live does for, live. Personally I wish there was a hardware MIDI sequencer with the same type of capabilities.
You have comments and a track posted on another site. Isn't 28 comments there enough for you? These forums are better suited for EPs and Album releases. Let's not turn this area into "Listen to my 8bc upload" forum.

Wait a second... you have a Monome and can't afford Ableton? Sell the Monome, buy a launchpad or something, and buy ableton.

Yeah your problem is you have one of those gigantic laptop with the too-high of a resolution for the screen size eh? just do the whole Ctrl + to increase the size
