Sorry about the lack of updates in this thread! Here are two of our new releases since the awesome The Joy of Sleazy Listening!

GARTH KNIGHT

Mandroid

The second EP  by composer Garth Knight. Mandroid, being heavily influenced by the work of John Carpenter, revolves around the concept of a gritty future where a synthetic man becomes self aware.

Arcade High

Pixel Passion

Hailing from Pittsburgh, PA, Arcade High has been composing 80’s inspired synthwave music for nearly two years. While taking inspiration from both 80’s new wave music and early 90’s video game culture, Arcade High has composed his love letter to the innocence experienced during those times by presenting Pixel Passion.

With the release of his second full-length album, Arcade High is attempting to push past the norms of current synthwave music by incorporating chip music inspired sounds; aiming to make the album unique when compared to both his own releases and those of his contemporary influences that include Mitch Murder, Anamanaguchi, Starship Amazing, MPM Soundtracks, College, Jordan F, Futurecop!, and Ice Choir.

Graphical mods of any hardware is really trivial in that it's fucking useless.

Get a Powerpak and/or MIDINES and/or Chip Maestro and get to actual compose music for or with the NES.

Powerpak: http://www.retrousb.com/product_info.php?products_id=34

MIDINES: http://www.wayfar.net/0xf00000_overview.php

Chip Maestro: http://www.soniktech.com/chipmaestro/index.php

Look into software like NTRQ, Pulse8 and whatever else Neil has been dishing out for the NES. Put that on your Powerpak and get tracking or get into Famitracker and make some NSFs and load 'em on.

It's all about being at the right place, at the right time, doing the right things.

Play lots of gigs in NYC, have a fun novelty approach to music, have an overall charming attitude, add word of mouth and buzz around your name, go viral, go on TV.

Working hard is definitely a key factor and they've totally shown that time and time again. Mad respect and hope we can all ride their coat tails into oblivion.

I'm fairly certain that 70-80% of the people I grew up with learning the guitar or studying music at college/uni no longer make music.

Shit happens, people discover new hobbies, realise that they need to put a lot more effort in to get better, give up everything for a wo/man/family.

I think I'd be very miserable if I couldnt make music anymore, my Dad certainly managed to balance being a musician with a good father with a horrible job.

If you "quit" chipmusic, you were a poseur all along and nothing of value was lost. True Chip 'Till Death. Fuck the fads.
