Sorry! I didn't know it was in active development. Maybe a placeholder or 'under construction' page would have been nice. Because without knowing that it was actually under construction, how was I to know that that wasn't the final site?
You can;t expect me to instinctively know whether or not the site is final or a work-in-progress without any hinting whatsoever. Cut me some slack

I see the site now (it looks finished to me), and I think the album covers are waaaay too big and sometimes inconsistent. The first and third covers are huge, but the second cover is decently sized. There's the blue <a>...</a> border around the header (consider wrapping it in a div, and that div making all the <a> elements have no link styling through CSS, I guess. My web dev knowledge is a littler sketchy), and the spacing between each post is terribly inconsistent - the spacing between the first two posts is minimal, while the spacing between the second and third posts is unecessarily long.

If this is the final site, then I think you should consider working on it a little more.
However, if it's not finished, put up an Under Construction placeholder page to inform people that the site isn't ready yet.

Sorry! I thought that the fact that he said "view the progress here" and that it has a different url ("site3") would hint at that, but I can see how someone could mistake it for the finished product. If you go to just dmgcontrol.com, you can find our old site, which is (as far as I know) perfectly functional.

The new design is not yet finished; the main issue that we're working on right now is compatibility (seriously, fuck IE). Most of those issues are weird quirks of Internet Explorer and Firefox that dsv101 is trying to work around at this moment. We still have quite a bit to do (like redoing the releases in a grid style, tweaking the graphics, ect.) and we hope to push this out soon.

I noticed you had an issue with the background earlier. Care to elaborate? Anyways, thanks for the input.

I can't see shit, the top of the site is totally chopped off, I can barely see the top of the cover art for the "Buttpoop" EP, the background is TERRIBLE , and i have to scroll across to the right in order to view the actual site. Come on.

... He's actively remaking the site right this moment. It looks like that because he's fixing some bugs and testing random code; it's not like that's our actual finished project. A little harsh much?

Media thread? hmmm
Just got out of school so I've been reading/watching a lot.

Just watched a bunch of "Breaking Bad", "Cosmos", "Bob's Burgers", and "How I Met Your Mother".
The first two are both fantastic and "Cosmos" is straight out beautiful at times. The latter two are both pretty funny and good for a quick laugh I guess.

Just recently read "1984", super fantastic; it's both exciting and thought provoking on a massive scale. I'm in the middle of "Brave New World", "The Diversity of Life", "The Stand" and some others. All are very good so far. Also just read "To Kill a Mockingbird". Very good, but it's way too simple and not in depth enough to be the masterpiece some people make it out to be

Just watched that one movie where Selena Gomez has a doppelganger so she takes her food and pretends to be her. It was terrible and the writers can't seem to grasp basic concepts of logic. Don't watch it.

I've recently played through about half of Earthbound. Very very awesome game, I'd reccommend it to anyone.

That's about it. Pardon my generic taste

I approve.  wink

@Decktonic -- did they mention thrash at some point?  Turf War!!!  lol

Ha, I think I now remember where the idea subconsciously came from wink We're probably trashing it anyways, so I guess it doesn't matter too much.

And we're not going to be ridiculously strict on the whole "dance" idea, so a decent amount of the releases are bound to have at least some thrashy elements. Dance and thrash kind of go hand in hand a bit (Dsv's release and parts of Starpilot's already have some pretty thrash-like parts). We won't focus on that stuff but if a good thrash release comes our way, we'd be glad to have it.

am i the only grumpy cunt that is thinking 'oh great, another chiptune netlabel' ?
i mean there are shitloads already. most start with enthusiasm and then amount to nothing. i think you really need to be a label with a focus to look legit. Maybe its just me but labels that have no quality control or no sort of theme or collective aspect to them just seem kinda ponitless
its just a bunch of random stuff on a website. make the first release awesome. dont feel oblidged to release everything you recieve because you dont want to dissapoint people. the first few release will really set the bar. like if i check a net label and its first 3 releases are all shit or not particularly memorable then that netlabels name just vanishes from my memory.
anyway i dont want to piss on your cornflakes before you get started. take my gripes as healthy motivation, im not meaning to sound like a total arsehole. but i probably do haha

Thanks for the comment! You bring up quite a few good points. Having already denied the only submission we've gotten (before this thread), I can assure you that quality control is a definite focus point for this netlabel. We have a strong idea of what style we want and plan to stick to it. Take note that it is not at all easy to start out with strong direction and quality; most artists aren't all ready to throw their hard work into a new and very sparsely known label like ours.

The Silph Scope wrote:

What sort of genre(s) do you plan on releasing?

Good question. To be more specific/realistic than dsv101, I personally would love to see some solid lsdj dance probably from lesser known artists that still retain a consistent quality (of course it doesn't specifically have to be lsdj or any sort of uncefest). I can't think of any examples as of now, so just whatever you think of when you hear "lsdj dance". I haven't really seen a netlabel as of yet pull of that sort of style and maintain a consistent quality.
