Yes!  So awesome.  Can't wait to purchase!  All we need now is a reproduction of the circuit boards and we have effectively new GB's!

Yeah XM2SNES or there are even MIDI converters.  You can play them back on a SNES with a flashcart which is cool, but some players make things like this.

If everyone who commented actually played, it'd be a heck of a show...

This is really, really fantastic.  One of the best albums of the year.  Pretty amazing considering the amount of polyphony too!

My friend has just ordered a bunch of PCBs and some components for these. The plan is to sell them either by by just the PCB (~25 EUR), PCB and a surface mounted component pre-soldered + some odd DC-DC coupler (~40 EUR) or pre-built ( ~200 EUR, with a custom laser-cut wooden case, without SID). We'll set up an ebay store or something once the boards and components have arrived, and until then, nothing of this is really "final." smile.

Great news!  I wonder if two of these could be used in a stereo configuration for soft that supports it.

Awesome news!  Since it sounds like this project isn't going anywhere I'll wait a bit.  smile

For what it's worth, I went with an op-amp style (Cmoy-inspired) solution. First attempt was using a home-made board but I have now made an SMD version that is a good deal smaller. I like using an op-amp because it would sacrifice itself before you end up doing any damage to your CPU itself (say due to static from plugging in an audio jack or something).

The downside is that it needs power. My first design required a separate power brick but I found a low voltage op-amp from Texas Instruments (Burr-Brown) that can be fed with low enough voltage that I can just use one power brick into the NES and tap off those inputs. That requires using a DC power brick though (the original NES power brick is AC), but a nice clean linear regulated power brick should work just fine, if not better, than the original power brick anyway.

You can see my first attempt here:

Still waiting on parts for my new board so I can't claim success for it just yet.

If you etch an extra of that new board I would buy it from you in a heartbeat!  Also, it might be nice to take advantage of that 4th RCA jack and sum the 3 channels into an extra mono channel.  Great job though man!  smile

Whatever happened to EL back light kits?

Man, if I had my ST setup up and running I would've loved to contribute.  Great job and nice tracks anyways!

Kind of, but its missing the third output.  I wouldn't mind having a little pre-amp like the NESMod or similar, just to have a little controllable gain.  But just a panning mixer would be wonderful!

So I'm stuck with a bit of a dilemma.  The way I have my setup right now is different things going into my 2 channel mixer.  What I'd like is something to allow me to pan the individual channels of the NES (i.e. the two outputs + expansion) so I can wind up with a stereo output to feed into my mixer.  Are there any kits or products that I could solder into my NES and have individual panning and gain control over the separate outputs?  That would be awesome.  It would be applicable on things like my Genesis and ST too!  Normally a small mixer would suffice, but I don't want to be layering EQ's.

Maybe this is what I need to finally get me to learn Pornotracker... I'm kind of ashamed at owning a Powerpak and not having written an NSF yet!

Jeez man, you are unstoppable.  Your sheer development will if going to force me to start writing some serious tracks with this!

Done!
