the title of this thread is "I WROTE AN ARTICLE ON HOW TO CHIPTUNE."

i never called it or anything else "an article about chiptune". Every thing i mentioned in there that you can buy is stuff you need to run lsdj.  so if you are reading this, most likely i directed you here to learn how to chiptune lsdj style.

see above. you should title things more clearly. it's an early attempt at 'how to get started with lsdj' it's nothing more than that. there's nothing wrong with that, but the article doesn't teach anything about 'how to chiptune.' there's a reason people are finding it cringe worthy.

i don't even want to approach this sentence. but, regardless, you didn't direct anyone here on the forum to this information, and better information already exists in a more condensed and easier to understand format. i understand you're being defensive because you put time into this work, and it's a good place to start - it's just a bit all over the place, inconsistent and difficult to read.

also, chiptune as a verb? uggggh.

How often are you really asked this question?

The 'useful vocab' is pretty useless, and the rest has been said (and elaborated at length) by other people. If this article is mainly about LSDJ why do you call it an article about chiptune? It isn't, really. Seems, as has been stated, more about how to get loads of shit you don't need to make chip tune. If you're reading this, you can probably get to work on learning a tracker within the next few minutes. LSDJ is one of the slowest routes available.

Let's say DMG-01 more though, that way we can be part of a secret club. Wink wink nudge nudge.

The majority of artists I listen to have stories behind every one of their songs. It's why they write music.

midines scandel is the silver cord running through chipmusic it seems like.  as far as 'internet world' goes, there has always been a midines thread like this.  just amazing...

yet, a lot of people (myself included) got theirs in a couple weeks even at the height of the (pretty heated) thread over on 8bc.  that inconsistency in order fulfillment is perhaps the worst of it.

best of luck, and PLEASE if you find a solution to this let other people know

(i envision a chip maestro 'reaction' too if dude doesn't hurry the hell up, its gotten to be head scratching now)

Thank you, kitsch, I very much agree. I've always done my best to keep the peace, especially when people we threatening legal action. I know it's a one guy operation, but why are the customers the ones left feeling like arseholes? I wouldn't have any hard feelings if he fulfilled the order - I don't know how many other people are still waiting, but I felt it was safe to say that half a decade was probably a good time to ask.

I shall keep people updated.

I'm not saying it's a proper thing to do at all! smile

All of it is wishful hoping at this point. He probably has no intent on ever sending me one, but it wasn't something I purchased lightly, it took me a while to justify the purchase. It wasn't until after I'd purchase it that I mentioned to a friend and he said "Hah, midines? Good luck. I know people who have been waiting for a year", that was back in 2008. I mean, George Bush was still in power when I ordered this thing!

I'd rather just have the midines I paid for, than spend $250 for another one.

I'd seen that, yeah, hasn't been active for over a year though. I've kept up to date with what was happening, always sent him an email asking what was happening, he said something about sending one out, about a year and a half back, I think it was, then stopped replying to my emails.

Do you really think he will give you a refund after five years? To me this is wishful thinking.

It may be wishful thinking, just think it's a pretty shitty thing to do, take money from someone then ignore them for five years.

I know his website, and I know his Twitter, and I have five or six different email addresses, but I don't know where he's active.

Greetings. I was wondering if anyone had current contact details for Chris Kann?

I bought and paid for a midines five years ago this June, and I've contacted Chris several times throughout the years, through various means, but he's either ignoring them, or doesn't use the addresses anymore. I don't wish to start a rage war, I understand he's had trouble, but it's been five years, and I think he could (at the very least) give me a refund if he doesn't have the ability to make them anymore.

Thank you.

I’m looking for a place to stay in Vancouver from May - July, does anyone know somewhere I can stay for less than $350 a month? I have a visa and I’m able to work.

fantastic progress. i won't be using it, but thank you for your constant dedication to what you do, Mister Bryface.

Don't tell me how to judge the music I listen to. Your name is too similar to mine. There can be only Edward.

"In all honesty I only like the last 30 seconds of it."

What the fuck are we wasting our time listening to it then? If you don't care about your music, why the fuck should anyone else?

8bit Peoples are very selective with their musical choices, and you're relatively under heard of. You've also only released two tracks, is this correct? Generally labels, of any kind, look for something more than two tracks.

Your music should take precedence over getting recognition from one of the most respected 8bit net labels.

So, basically, no I don't think you can join 8bitpeoples, but you might someday if you write more and build a fanbase. The market is over-saturated with netlabels, and I don't think they serve much purpose other than circle-jerking. If your music is good, people will listen to it.
