You/the seller might not have been careful and you ended up with Amiga mice (afaik they look the same). But yeah, I recommend using an adapter so that you can use whatever mouse you feel most comfortable with.

Here's one I hear is good!

I think the C64mod circuit protects the SID from voltage spikes and such, that would otherwise kill it, but I'm not sure. I'd be interested in buying one, in that case smile

John Player would easily fit a 16k cartridge, but you'd still need a disk drive to save, I think. Could be nice to boot up straight into a tracker, though smile

I don't know exactly how Ocean cartridges work, but they probably use some mapper circuitry so that you can swap out a bank of ROM for another by using a register on the cart. If anyone can find any details of how exactly they work, I might look into it, but building a custom Ocean cart will be harder since you'd have to recreate whatever mapper circuit it uses.

For EasyFlash, there's already Draco Cart Maker! smile

If you find a bunch of PRG programs and they all amount to less than 8k, send them to me an I'll try to whip up a multicart for you. It's not trivial but it can be done, and I'd like to give it a try!

EDIT: Could probably do 16k, too!

I remember a simple tool for Windows that just mapped the PC speaker to a MIDI channel, but I can't find it anymore. I have a vague memory of it being made by Nifflas (of Knytt fame).

Here's a schematic of a MIDI/gameport cable. Looks like quite a few components. Personally, I would look for a PCMCIA or serial port MIDI interface.

SWEET! This is good stuff, man.

This is great! Made my five hour train ride today.

My argument is simply to those who just get all excited about things and just start saying.. "can i donate" "can i pre-order" etc etc.

I haven't seen any of that in this thread yet. Well, I might have, depending on what you mean with "etc." tongue

Personally, I wouldn't use a tracker on the console itself either. Something like TFM throwing real-time sound register changes at a mega drive through, say, Krik's USB transfer cable would be much nicer.

Shiru: do a kickstarter, gain support!

Look 4 posts above yours...

I don't think it's that silly of a suggestion since a kickstarter fund doesn't really come with any of the risks commonly associated with donation based funding -- set a pool goal as high as you want and start working if it's reached in time. Otherwise, everything is returned to the donating parties.

It would only set yourself up for disappointment.

Yeah, living by this won't really get anything anywhere, though smile.

Yes, if you are all so sure about the commercial viability of a native MD tracker, go ahead and DIY or hire Shiru. smile

Shiru made a tracker primarily for a ZX Spectrum sound expansion, and the tunes are playable on the genesis, too: ftp://ftp.untergrund.net/users/shiru/tfmmaker14.zip. Freezedream recently made a great album with it.

Just a quick tip, you can click and drag operators to each other with the left/right mouse button to swap/copy them (respectively). It speeds up voice editing a lot!

Sweet! My only beef so far is that when you grab a slider, it immediately jumps to the mouse position. It's especially annoying with the cross fader. I think it should move relative to the mouse position on the initial click to avoid such jumps.

Also, it would be nice if one could somehow map the speed/tempo (maybe separately) values from one song directly to the other, so that they would sync up exactly no matter dynamic speed or tempo changes.
