Also, you need to read up a bit on the Paula (look the sound registers up in "Mapping the Amiga")! It is very different from typical modern sound cards in that each of its four channels have independently variable sample rates, so beyond setting up waveform pointers and loop lengths, it can be controlled simply by changing rate and volume, like a PSG chip. Oh, and it does channel to channel modulation effects: FM and AM.
So yeah, citations, citations, citations... Not just to increase the credibility, but also to make sure you never include misinformed statements like that.
Just a note from a quick glance... I'll be back!
PS: I don't think "arguably" belongs in a wikipedia article.
Start the label and I'll make an EP!
Just run workbench, and unless a menu comes up when you hold the right button it's probably broken.
Yeah, what's done with the three ATMegas could easily be done with a single Propeller chip, and those go $5.99 in quantity. That's 8 32 bit cores, and modular code for video/audio output, input, BASIC, Forth, etc. already exists, not to mention a built-in font! Should save some CB space too, cutting the cost further.
I say put a forth environment on it and let the third world people become the software engineers of tomorrow!
As long as it can be used to read plain text (and jump through hyper text) I think that it might be valuable to some poor people - especially if you can cut out enough 10 page articles on anime characters from Wikipedia to fit the rest on an SD card less expensive than the computer . Having access to a lot of information on a slow computer is better than not having any access at all.
Chances are that it won't be more than an interesting curiosity for computer enthusiasts, like the OLPC.
I hear that if you sleep for long enough and then wake up and open your eyes, there's a whole new dimension of sensations! It's extremely clear and lucid, and it will leave everlasting impressions.
Thanks, I really appreciate it! Well spotted influences, too . I used TFM Music Maker by Shiru to make all the tracks.
Thanks for the nice comments, and thanks for the tip, µB (btw is it supposed to be pronounced micro-b, microbe or simply "ubi"?)!
Well, it doesn't look like you've 'just' done that to me! It has a very NESish look, which suits the song. Must download your EP now!
Yes, it was run through my C64 hi-res filter, which splits it into 8x8 character cells that may only use two of the 16 Commodore 64 colors each. Then I did some color processing to give it some more ambiguous colors.
I tried this once out of curiosity and it didn't work as far as I could tell, but I've had some great hallucinatory experiences with not-quite-white noise. Just tune your radio to outer space or put on some loud noisy music and lie down on a bed.
Once I set the first song of this on repeat, was half asleep, started hearing voices (while still being in a conscious enough state to reflect on how they weren't supposed to be there and to try to make sense from what they were saying) and got the sensation that my bed was spinning around, so I held onto the sides really hard and enjoyed the ride. At some point I must have been fully asleep, though, because I had a dream where I very slowly walked out and kissed my grandmother while everything was super bright and shaking (the spinning sensation sort of remaining).
When I woke up I felt super happy and refreshed, but I had a bad headache from having listened to the music loudly for an hour or so, my sheets were in a complete mess and I was sweaty like I'd had the worst nightmare ever.
Thanks! To be honest the syncing wasn't that much work - I just removed what wasn't spacecraft models and cool animations from the source material, tried playing it together with the track just for giggles, and it just seemed to work straight out of the box
I made a music video for a song from my latest EP
All footage is cut from a 1965 NASA space propaganda video.
Just listened through the thing. Good stuff as always! The last track is a killer.
They put the commercial breake because you werent conservative enough
Anyway, good going getting on a million people show
I haven't listened yet, but I'm sure it's great (saw your "glitch chip" youtube video today). I'll be sure to buy when the CD is out!
