You must be a very dirty boy...
wow, that is sort of cute...
have you tried flocking a gameboy?
i tried this a while ago but my technique wasn't steady enough, and it came out pretty bad... i want a flocked gameboy, they are always my favorite designer toys. maybe i'll get a run of cases flocked one day, for shits and giggles.
this is pretty neat though. very kitschy
Holy crap Kitsch!!! I was wondering how I could do a crazy vibrate multicolor fuzzy boy and you just answered my question! I used to mess around with flock when I was younger. I dunno why I didn't think about that before that will be perfect. Next fun project in the works now!!! Just have to go find some. Lol
Cuuuuuute.
And yes, I'm being serious.
Lol yea ad you can sleep with it too! Lmao
Lint roller lightly damp paper towels work wonders. Yea its true it will take a little to maintain one of these and keep it looking nice but it's not much. No different than trying to keep your screen from being scratched or case being scratched. You take the measures to protect one of these as you would any other gameboy you care about. And bonus is if you drop it it has a little extra and there is no worry of scratching the case anymore. The next design I have in mind that I'm going to attempt to sell is actually going to protect the screen also while not in use which will be fun. It's also going to be a Domo just a slightly more thought out version. With a flap over the screen that can be folded back and over the top of the gameboy while in use. Personally I'm very excited to see what else I can pull off using fabric on a DMG.
Also another bonus is, even of your case looks like total shit on the outside due to scratches or dent or whatever it won't matter anymore because it's covered. Personally I think this is genius and it feels great on your hands and is nice to hold.
Surprisingly they aren't hard to push at all. The only thing that's a little pain is turning it on and off I have to trim the edges up top around the power switch a little more but my mini scissors broke on me a few hours ago and kept me from doing that last little detail.
Well to my knowledge! Very excited I finally did it and it turned out damn good considering I'm using fabric. I like it so much I think I'm going to make more fuzzy gameboys to sell at some point. Here's some pics.
Hope you guys like it! Let me know what you think. Also I am going to install a red backlight and I'm hoping for black buttons to be back in stock at kitschs soon. Also if you look carefully at the screen I need to trim a little more of the fabric under the screen. Also wanting to get a black modern screen from apeshit or a chipmusic inside from kitsch at some point. And clear start selects to light up red.
Alright guys. We are seriously wanting to get a shirt made. We have a few ideas that I've tried to execute myself and I'm not to happy with how they've turned out. If you could provide a link with some of your work that would be awesome. The design can not use more than two colors. Shirt color does not count as a color, so that kinda gives you 3 to play with I suppose. Some ideas I had that I'd like to see attempted are a Converse Allstar high top style shoe with the band name "My Pixels Just Died" around the star where it normally says "converse all star". Another style that I think would be epic of someone could pull it off is a Johnny The Homicidal Maniac comic style shirt. Something like two guys throwing some old school systems at each other in a series of 4 or 6 comic books style frames. You can fid loads of pictures of the JTHM comics on good images. Have a look and see what I mean. It's a very dirty comic style and I love it. To my knowledge no band has done a comic style band shirt and if they have I still think its a cool and unique idea.
Also just show me what you can do whip up these ideas if you want or do your own original idea and show me what you got. Keep in mind we are a bit heavier dirtier sounding group. Doing kinda dirty dub meets street punk so we aren't really looking for bright colors. Maybe work with some red or green. Like if you do the JTHM comic style leave it all black and white and slap some blood in there in red to make it kinda pop. Like when one of us gets smacked with a controller or something in the head.
Also who ever makes a design we go with will get two of the shirts in any two sizes they want. If more payment is wanted we can discuss that in a PM or email. We are a bit shot for cash ATM. Most all we have is going into her the shirts printed. But we can work out a deal I promise.
Thanks guys and hope someone is up for the challenge.
I think in all honesty. I might put one of our websites on te back of ours. Funny thing is we are both with women named Quinn. Hes married and I'm engaged. And we were going to print two shirts for them that says "I'm with the band" on the back or something similar, for fun. And maybe we will put the site addresses on the back of ours. And the fan shirts just be the design on the front. Not entirely sure but gives us something to think about for sure. Thanks again guys for all the input.
Any reason in particular you opted to take a picture of your computer screen to show the graphic?
I was about to head out and did t have time for it finish saving as photoshop formatted file then get on chrome and go here and sign in and post and I wanted a friends opinion. He happened to be where I was heading do I snapped a pic real fast. Also i usually do not of my forum running on my iPhone. I almost never touch the computer unless it's to play games or backup my lsdj cart.
As for everyone else you do make points about the shameless promotion thing. Web address and so on. I was honestly thinking about putting that info on the back as to not put from the image on the front.
@bitman I love your template but I've actually made a pixel gameboy also. It was the very first design I actually had in mind for the shirt because I already had it made and it wodnt be that hard to edit, but then I realized it had been done before. I can't do a pixel gameboy for our shirt. Which is why i tried to do a gameboy but change it up a little.
So, yeah, ask me/send me the sav file. I've been able to recover lost songs many times.
"Gods don't like to claim that they are just that, Gods!"
I have heard many stories of this here guy. All possitive. Hes a damn genius! Word on the streets you can trust him with your life ad he can even walk on water for your amusement. Not sure if he can break dance or not, but I bet you he can! Just look at that smile on his face!
I disagree with 9-heart. Simple is the way to go.
I like the speaker.
Just now saw your speaker comment. And yea the speaker was my favorite part of it too. I thought it'd be cool to kinda have it fucked up looking like some shitty LA River graffiti. The first way i drew it was using a spray style brush and it looked like spray paint but it blended weird on the black background once I put it on a black background.
@9heart. Thanks a lot for the advice and tips sounds cool actually and I'll definitely try add some depth and character. In fact I kinda have an idea in mind now that is still
DMG related but different than anything I've seen.
@kitsch. As always your advice helps a lot buuut luckily one of my best friends is actually married to a professional printer with her own print shop so I got all that in the bag lol.
Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator are the preferred programs for her apparently. She also gave me a damn good deal on fixing and prepping the image for me i just have to bring her a rough file or sketch nd she can get it into vector format and everything for me. I don't want to say how much she's doing it for but it's stupid cheap and apparently a one time cost per design which is cool. As for the overlay word I knew it about 6 hours ago when I was talking to him about it again and he said it but I can't remember now lol. But I've been awake for almost 25 hours so my brain is poop right now.
Again thanks guys for the advice, tips, and all that jazz! I promise you though we will come up with atleast one bad ass design that people will like. And if all else fails we will print to styles to fit to different peoples tastes.
My advice for future reference having experienced this very issue before I knew much about the community, and yea some of it is repeating what others had said plus some possibly obvious tips.
1. Load the same version of LSDJ on both sides. This helps a ton indeed.
2. After you complete a song or get pretty for into it and you know you're going to take a break for awhile back it up to your computer. No matter what. And I highly suggest saving it to your hard drive D also to a flash drive just as back up in case your comp fucks up for any reason.
3. Carry a separate flash drive, or use the same one you use to back up your songs, that has the flashing program on it and your prefered version of LSDJ on it so even if you're away from your computer and at a friends house or something you can load it on theirs real fast and get your stuff back if anything happens to your cart while jamming at a friend house.
4. If you can get a cheap netbook, small lightweight, and usually run about 250$, that you can carry with you do you don't have to depend on a friends computer if away from the house. For emergency situations such as a file corrupt right before a show or something.
5. Invest into another USB EMS cart and once you back your .sav to your computer and flash drive throw it onto the extra cart. So if all else fails you have another cart that is in working order. Also very useful to do before you go play a gig. You'll have twin carts so if one fucks up you have a backup.
6. Last but not least. Every so often, after you back up your cart, completely whipe it clean of lsdj and load like tetris or Mario or whatever preferred game on it on both sides and play it for like 30 minutes. Then load lsdj back on both sides along with your save. I noticed that around the 7-14 track area, depending on length and complexity of your songs, ends up really confusing the EMS cart and will cause songs to become corrupt and not even load, and of they do load it'll load ???s or 00s or all phrases are the same like FF or 1A or some weird crap and if you hit start to play you'll just hear a single high pitch beep or a weird glitchy whistling beep sound for a second. May seem stupid but I noticed giving the cart a little break from lsdj helped solve this issue for me. I think it may be the fact that LSDJ is on both sides and since the cart can only take 1 .sav after saving so much as backing it up with the same thing per as over I think it tries to start duplicating itself and causes this issue. And to solve it you simply replace that file with something else completely different.
Might all seem a bit much but I had the issue 3 times before I was just sick of it as I started doing all this and its all saved my ass. Better safe than sorry right?
Note: when you load a game on it for a "break" like i mention in tip 6. Ive noticed it's best if you use a game that has save files like Zelda or Pokemon.
Hope this helps you out in anyway. And good luck man.

Yea we are sadly limited ATM though. One of the other designs I have in mind is basically a high top converse all star shoe and it say "My Pixels Just Died" where it usually says "Converse All Star" and how the star in the middle on the shoe have it be a simple mini gameboy and on either side of it where it says "Chuck" and then "Taylor" have our two names "Elvasko and "Vex". Try to make it loom like its sketched out on paper but id want to put it on a white shirt to make it look good but sadly black shirts tend to sell more. Lol but that's the other idea I have but it'll take some time to sketch out.
@9 heart. Thanks man we appreciate it. Honestly I drew it out in about 15 minutes. Other bad thing is we are limited to one possibly two colors...for now. Any pointers to possibly help out?
Just wanted to get some honest opinions on a shirt design. This is only one of 5-6 designs we are going to do. The one the community likes the most will be the one we actually print. As you see the image keep in mind, yes I know a lot of chip tuners have used the image of the gameboy on their shirts and its a bit over used. It's just a possible design, and I'm also keeping in mind that I want this thing to sell locally and there is literally NO chip scene down here at all but loads of gamers and they may just buy it because of the fact it has a gameboy on it. Cheap move I know but hey if it works right? Then we could afford to make more graphic and complex designs. With this design I wanted to go for kind of an old school broken punk rock meets gaming meets Johnny the Homicidal Maniac look. Well enough with the chit chat here's the design:
Honest opinions please. Good, bad, neutral? We want to hear it all. Once the other designs are ready I will post them all here and change the Topic to something's else and the voting will officially begin.
