things like this can be a lot of fun. ive had a lot of fun putting these kinda things through cheap zoom multi effects and making a bad noise

just record it

all those little clicks from hard panning and volume envelope are beautiful.

east of england!

all good advice

but also remember that

it is ok for you to make short songs

and there is lots of great repetitive music

let go of what you think peoples expectations of what music should be, or what they inform you that music should be and become a better artist!

you haven't linked to any music yet so idk what style of music u are trying to make

Haven't checked it out, but if it's any of the stuff he's been playing live at demo parties I think there are a few unreleased sid tracks in his set.  Anyway you'd have to ask him.

What would be cool is if a bunch of the old C64 masters rented out a cabin in the woods and just wrote new SID tunes for a month, and then released the compilation on Bandcamp for free.

But dreams are dreams, I guess.

there was an interview with a bunch of those guys in retrogamer magazine a few years back. they were really dismissive (verging on insulting) of the C64 and its musics. so i doubt its going to happen.

I really dislike all these remaking classic soundtracks with real rock instruments thing. The compositions lose a lot of their charm in the process. The Giana Sisters reboot with Chris Huelsbeck redoing his soundtrack with real instruments, for example.

I guess they are how the original composer imagined them to be, but it loses so much for me. i liked the classical stuff that was put out a few years back though, different arrangements just made it more interesting.

www.6581-8580.com is a good website for mp3 c64 traxxx, its a slightly out of date snapshot of www.hvsc.c64.org

otherwise http://csdb.dk/ should have all the C64 resources you should ever need.

what sort of progs did you want? if it is music then faff around with goattracker/emulator b4 u start shelling out for C64 gizmos
