(slightly patronising post? sorry) if you want a fresh start on an internet forum, don't create a post about who you were and what you used to do. it only draws negative attention to you and straight away sets peoples expectations of your behavior! smile

just be nice and helpful and let your tunes do the talkin'

you sure its not one of those annoying browser hijack things that happens sometimes?

He had a music video that featured Tim Westwood and Dappy of N-Dubz!

but being serious your song is fun but the chords went on rather a lot.

Me, personally, I'd say something like GoatTracker would be a pain to start with.

I think GoatTracker has great Help included.

Is this just maybe related to C64 sound fun being confusing to start with?

one of those Russian mp3 leeching sites

are you using an apple thing?

do a search for "insert key goattracker"

buy a cheap usb keyboard?

have you set the pulsetable position?

if you can get saw and noise to work then you are on the right track.

triangle is a lot quieter than the other sounds - play with the sustain which pretty much = instrument volume

have you remembered to set the pulse table position for the square/pulse thing? set pulsetbl to 88 00 for something thick and stable.

that tutorial is very good, the actual c64 manual explains some sound stuff as well so might be helpful.

If you are really stuck, I'd recommend stealing sounds from the sample songs and learning how they make them, messing with values smile

all you really need to do to start making a sound is:

set volume envelopes (just sustain and release)
set wavetable position
then on the correct wavetable position put something simple like

21 00
FF 00

if you are using pulse (41) remember to set a pulsetable thing or you wont hear anything.

I haven't encountered this problem, is it the same for all your songs? or just this one song and all others are fine?

have you tried playback in sidplay?

have you got a weird loop point in the wave table, or forgotten to do one at all?

I normally get weirdness with values in the HR/Gate timer or 1stFrame Wave that it doesn't like (makes songs stop suddenly) and some weird tempo freakouts that i don't understand how to fix (tempos jumping all over randomly)

lots of good suggestions here, esp skrju, check out everything by skrju!

if you want a smooth bass sound turn off the frame changes - put the wav channel on manual (i think it is manual mode? off mode in some older versions?)

from there just experiment with the frame volume and cut off settings for nice smooth deep bass.

if you use high speed frame changes or volume envelopes you will most likely get distorted and clicking and crackling sounds.

you can learn to use these as percussion or to keep them in time with percussion so they are less noticeable but best keep it simple for now if you are a noob smile
