yeah sure this is "how do i dubstep my chiptune thread #7636-B", but I find it completely hilarious that the same scene that just got finished a whole month of circle jerking over moe moe kyunstep wants to flame a kid for asking how to do it

how do you make dubstep drops with the VRC6, anyhow? :v

I like the NEs noise channel more too.

yeah this
NES noise has this fluidity between shapes/pitches that I don't think any other chip has imo.

So what... he's asking a question about lsdj technique. This whole what's good and what's not dichotomy in chipmusic has to stop.

nononono if you've ever paid attention to anything i've ever posted here you'd know this isn't the angle i was coming from. i just think it's a goofy question to ask, like a "dubstep drop" or a "wobble" is an actual thing outside the context of dubstep. maybe i'm just being too philosophical about it.

anyway i'm pleasantly surprised by the response itt, given that the "trap hats in lsdj" one was a total shitstorm :v

edit: wait nvm i just properly read it. not quite as surprised anymore :v

the cardboard scene is lame, they're just recycling other styles

haha, seattle.
i reckon what this thing does on a fundamental level is really cool, but the execution is so dumb.
there's gotta be something useful to do with this kind of tool, surely?

how can you ask this question differently though?

if chipmusic as a medium is heading north at 80mph and chipmusic as a genre is heading south at 75mph ...?

nobody actually cares that you used a plugin, these are just bad covers. the thing about releasing or performing covers in general is that you have to treat the original with respect and really do it justice or people are just going to shit on you.

(or maybe it does and i just don't see it because i'm just another cog in the wheel :<)

wait i'm confused, is that not how it works? :v

okay but seriously i think i know who you're referring to and i gotta respectfully disagree. i don't think there's even a single person here who's actually like that. we all have our reasons for sporadic releases and shows, and sometimes it's fun to be a bit of a helmet (for me, at least). but the self-appreciative cool kid circlejerk doesn't really exist on cm.o
