what i really want is something like Game boy DMG with LSDJ, but with SID chip inside, because that soundchip integrated into Sharp Z80-modified CPU is somewhat limited to me.

...would also be good to spread some knowledge on pads/sounds moving between lush and harsh
more you modulate, more harsh sounds, + feedback makes more metallic

Of course it is Amiga, but i dont like those Amiga soundtracks, which sounds like C64 chiptunes, but with samples, even that basspad on a C64 is more animated with filter sweeps.

Re: FM Synthesis video tutorials (80 replies, posted in Tutorials, Mods & How-To's)
i am wondering what people want to know about FM synthesis, i was programming FM sounds since early 90s and i am understanding it since then. on adlib/soundblaster was primitive FM synthesis. operators are just sine waveforms with many parameters, and if i remember correctly, only a few algorithms on a DX7 are not serial. yamaha's greatest FM synth with formant synthesis is FS1r, i want it and 10 years ago i owned DX200 desktop FM synth which offers realtime envelopes, filter, and switching between algorithms during play was also interesting. today most VA synths offer simplest FM synthesis, one waveform modulate second, nothing extra.

I am learning Sid Duzz It, so i created one nice PDF just for two doubleside A4s, if anyone is interested. Another file about SID waves is also included:

BTW, where is that crossplatform Goat Tracker for C64 natively? On SourceForge is OSX and Windows version which seems good (i got some latency, dont know why and i have installed ASIO).

Re: C64 audio out put options (26 replies, posted in Commodore Computers)
I also purchased some days ago Commodore 64 (version G, which was primarily for German market with game cartridge), with 1541-II disk drive. It looks like new, SID chip is 8580. But it was without RF TV cable, i found it today in local store. Video out is 8-PIN DIN connector, which is hard to find in local electroshops. In one shop i purchased DIN 5-PIN cable to 4x CINCH, according to this legend http://old.pinouts.ru/Multimedia/AudioV nout.shtml is AUDIO OUT yellow cinch, but when i plugged that yellow cinch to my hifi system i noticed some hum. I can hear sound, but quality is not very good. Anyone can help me with this?
BTW, what is AUDIO IN signal?

Re: Search for instrument (16 replies, posted in Nintendo Handhelds)
You can emulate piano and flute with pulse waveform with proper envelope and good tracking, really add noise when necessary. And all percussions are about quick pitchbending down. Hihats and Crashes with noise channel with shape command etc.

Re: Soundchip-based synthesizers (17 replies, posted in Other Hardware)
Some time ago i had dream about Commodore Amiga with evoluted C64 SID chip with multiple channels and polyphony aside from that PCM Paula But man who created 6581 later founded Ensoniq and designed for example SQ-80, great sounding synth with analog filters and polyAT.
BTW I dont own real SQ-80, but i know about really great VSTi ( http://www.scoreforsale.com/html/sq8l.html ) which was developed by die-hard Ensoniq fans, if you are interested. I am mentioning this only because i feel SQ-80 is like evoluted SID and many patches reminds me it.

Re: Is there an app which can make .xm's smaller ? (10 replies, posted in General Discussion)
I've seen long-play one pattern songs with very slow BPM, with multiple replays of some passages (i forgot that command, sorry).
Probably from Jeroen Tel (WAVE/Five Musicians), check his small-size tracks in scene.org module archive.

I LOVE analog filters, but this idea surprised me. Why not to release it as external unit? Of course with envelope follower, it can address much wider audience.
