i think a dream program would be boring, the fun is getting round the quirks and limitations of the software and hardware. I'd probably just sit in front of this limitless thing and feel cold.

Buzz rocks. I've been using it occasionally for about 10 years now.
Some cool machines:
-the wave recorders (e.g.Whitenoise, CnG) let you do live resampling
-BTDsys SampleGrid is a fun drum sequencer
-PyBuzz lets you get extremely nerdy by running Python scripts inside Buzz
-the more recent DubDelay is probably the coolest/weirdest sounding software delay I've heard
-almost everything Fuzzpilz and BTDsys made!

You cant fight it, its possible chip will not be "underground" for too much longer.
I think chip is coming at an interesting time for popular music, where the industry is no longer looking for "the next big thing" and instead just wants to cash out on "sure shots" while the business model still has a [fading] pulse. It's possible that chip will be a next-big-thing that will never actually get very big, and that it won't really matter at all either way. The netlabel infrastructure is quite established now and I honestly don't foresee a huge change there. I hope it continues on as this folksy, voluntary, awkwardly fun thing, and I think that's likely.
I still think it's awesome that you guys are gonna be on TV. Not for DA KULCHA!!! or anything like that, but just for the sake of the aforementioned hypothetical suffocated proto-creative, and her/his spiritual liberation.

More power to you, bros. I had a feeling you knew what you were in for w/ the topic title, lol.
Let's just hope that the one Fox employee w/ half-decent google-fu doesn't find this thread and exploit your statement of intent up there...heh...

..some poor protocreative stuck in a fox news hell hole in the midwest somewhere...
I've been one of these! Maybe that's why I see it from this angle as well
If it weren't for AMP on MTV at midnight in '96 I may never have been introduced to electronic music beyond VGM and marginal synth parts in pop...

I see both sides of this...I hate Fox too but I'm super happy for them to get some national television (!) exposure.
I guess if I look at it from harm vs. good, it's a pretty positive thing to imagine kid at home with his teabagger parents watching Fox and suddenly there are these guys on TV making music with DMGs and thinking, "Whoa people can make music with a gameboy?? Sign me up!" It's like buying DS-10 at Wal-Mart... a pretty little flower growing out of a big pile of shit. Really a beautiful thing in my opinion.
I think that opportunity outweighs the potential confusion from seeing chip artists on faux news. I mean, really... do you think the RNC is going to start calling up chip artists to make public appearances with their reps??

Smeg it, I just listened on the TDS page. This is pretty fun. I've wanted to do something similar to this in concept, but a lot different in execution, for a long time.

I know the problem . It took me months to write this tutorial because its so boring to fire on latex after your regular work, create the figures, etc.
At the risk of losing face, what does "fire on latex" mean? I would google this but it seems potentially NSFW.
