Those are cheap, for sure.

Depends how good you need your timing really.  Cheaper ones might suffer from alot of jitter, but that might not matter to you.

I would personally always recommend Midiman/M-Audio for midi interfaces.  M-Audio dip into alot of different markets now, not always to their credit, but MIDI and Audio Interfaces are things they truely excel in.

I have a Midisport 2x2 and my musical partner has a Midisport 1x1 (and an Oxygen 8).  They've both worked for 10 years without any problems.

Sweet!  This needs a button on the top nav though, otherwise it won't get the attention it deserves.

I'm in batch 6.  Hopefully it's delivered soon....  big_smile

Not that I'm going to sell or swap it, I just thought I'd gloat tongue

Jesus, where do I start?   Was very much into the C64 demo scene back in the day (as a fan, rather than taking part), got into house and subsequently rave in the late 80s, early 90s,  but was quickly subverted over to heavy metal by a friend at school.  Joined my first band as a drummer in 92 until 93 when we recorded our first demo at Old Dairy Studios in York.  Then got back into rave/techno in 93 and started knocking out my own stuff via ProTracker on the Amiga.  Did a couple of albums worth of stuff over the next 2 years (filled a C90 demo tape) before going quiet for a couple of years.  Met up with an old college mate in 98 (who I had taught to track back in 94) and decided to become a double act.  I was working in Pc pro-audio at the time, so had access to NFR hardware and software (which was nice), so started to bang out new electronic stuff with Cubase, Rebirth, Reaktor etc.  Got a local  singer/songwriter called Joycey to drop some vocals on a track, she also used to be a rocker smile.  Decided to blend rock/grunge guitars with the electronic stuff and Reborn was created. Gigged and recorded with Reborn solidly up till 2004 when we decided to have a break (it's hard work you know!).

Reborn have got together again a few times over the last few years, but still haven't finished the embryonic (and totally awesome) debut album.   This is tricky as the other guy in the band recently became a dad, so securing studio time is tricky.   Live, however, is impossible.  You can't just have a guitarist and a vocalist on stage,

Getting back into 8bit has given a new direction for us to go in.   It means Joycey and I can continue to work on material and perform it live in a way which will still remain interesting and exciting, so rather than picking up a guitar I'll be picking up a Gameboy and bashing away on my C64 and SammichSID.  That's the plan anyway.

Thanks for reading smile

EDIT : Oh, that's me on the right there cool

Gigs North of the Watford Gap <- More of this sad

I'd prefer sites that sell more than just 1 item please... otherwise it's not really a store but just a website with something for sale.

Those items aren't available anywhere else.

No matter how long we spend apart, she always feels so right!

I was about to post that too.  Very similar to the Vic-20/C16/C64 keyboard cool

I spent 5 minutes typing on my C64 when it arrived.  Fond memories!  Such a nice positive feel.  Lovely. cool

Of course, the C64 wasn't even plugged in big_smile

Hakko = Aoyue? (=CSI?)

EDIT: Chinese copy perhaps.  They seem to come well recommended.  Never been able to find a Hakko supplier in the UK (not one I'd trust anyway:()

EDIT: Hakko 936 seems to have been discontinued in September 09.  Replacement model : http://www.hakko.com/english/products/hakko_fx888.html

Looks like I might be buying a Midibox kit, so I think I'll be shopping for a solder station for home pretty soon smile

If you are going to spend more than 10 minutes per session, I'd recommend you go for a proper solder station.  I have two normal irons at home (both Antex), and they're OK for small jobs, but any more than 10 minutes and they just get annoying!  The cables always get in the way, the don't get hot enough, quick enough, and take ages to cool down.

That Weller heats up in about 30 seconds, the cable is low voltage, so very light and flexible and it cools down in a couple of minutes.  It's not cheap though.

I have my eye on a CSI or Aoyue for home smile
