Your 7th 64M Smart Card? Why do you need so many of the same thing?

The standard answers are old versions of Renoise, Reason and also ReBirth, even this is not for chip music as much as acid and techno etc. And MilkyTracker of course.

Could you please provide a screenshot, and say which browser you're using, and mention any possibly relevant browser extensions?

My vote is for B.

I think it would actually be more difficult and more expensive to find one-time programmable ROM chips of a suitable size and voltage tolerance, than to find flash ROMs. The reason being, that there were heaps of suitable flash chips made some 10-20 years ago for things like holding a computer BIOS or for use in PDAs, so there's still a lot of those chips around. Even when the 5V chips run out, there will be suitable lower voltage flash chips that can be used by using voltage level converters. Whereas if people wanted that much constant data say 10 years back and didn't want to use flash, they would order a mask ROM form a manufacturer, which only makes sense for very large quantity. High setup cost and low per unit manufacturing cost.

Mask ROM: a ROM chip where the contents are etched onto the die in manufacturing, rather than being programmed in later.

With the Altane, is there going any way to write to old DMG carts?

No, you can't write to what is a ROM (read only memory) chip. There are way of converting a game cartridge into a flash cartridge by replacing the chip, however, but be prepared to flex your soldering muscles.

(Of course, technically, it can write save RAM to cartridge with save RAM, which technically counts as writing, but that's obviously not what you were asking.)

One or more music publishing rights collecting societies

What the hell? Now I have a copyright claim to an artist who died 180 years ago and I can't even see who's claiming the publishing rights? SHENANIGANS!

Who knows more about how this stuff works? Any reason why I shouldn't dispute this?

Yep, I think that one is bogus indeed. If I've understood things correctly, the music collecting societies are supposed to collect revenue based on individual performances, not any perfomance of a work, at least for works that are out of copyright. I once got a notice from a music collection society for the following vieo, which is just me tweaking parameters on my modular synth. On the upside, I disputed the claim, and it was removed within a minute, suggesting it was automated from start to finish.

The EMS cartridge is using a propietary driver, which is less likely to work correctly for each new version of Windows. ALTANE is using an FTDI virtual serial port chip and corresponding driver, which is likely to keep working in future versions of Windows. For this reason you may want to get one to reduce possible future headache.

Also, ALTANE can back up/restore save data from game cartridges and GB Camera, which a USB cartridge of course can't.

payday, it does not. You may however want to check out my upcoming flasher, which does support the EMS cart, among others.

I might also consider making a GBC compatible version of Shitwave (that is, including the graphics) but it was all meant to be a half joke originally.

First of all, there's already http://iiichan.net/boards/music/

Random comments:

And secondly, which fiel types are allowed? It doesn't say anywhere, but I would expect that relevant file types like sav, lsdsng and various module format would be allowed.

I just joined the IRC channel, and it was empty. No good if you want to keep your ops.

Another thing. Looking at the rules, I found this: "No adult content, this is a SFW site." For a chan, I would personally phrase that differently. What about on-topic, but tangetially NSFW images? Say... discussions about Custer's Revenge or this Anamanaguchi gif which features bare breasts. Or just generally borderline on-topic art. Maybe a minor point, but nevertheless one I felt like bringing up.
