Also, I highly recommend playing the most random shows possible, you'd be surprised who would like your tunes. Art galleries, house parties, club nights, street corners, whatever. If you really get into it and have a fun time, who gives a shit if the regulars like it?

Agree.

I have hands-down had my best shows with hardcore and crunkcore bands. (I hate crunkcore, but those guys love some gameboy music!) All I can say is this: Stage presence is everything. Jump around! Flail your arms! Do backflips! (Spine willing...)

Boom. Cheap ass 4 channel Alesis mixer. Recommend.

Edit: It's good for a 1x lsdj gameboy and a 2xlsdj setup and a laptop. 4 ins, endless possibility.

A netlabel is just a means to an end. What are the goals for your music, really? Do you want as many people as possible to hear your work? Are you trying to land gigs? Looking for some hypothetical credibility? That, along with Decktonic's list will tell you if you need a netlabel or not.

Incredibly well said. That gives me something to chew on.

Some netlabels seem about as reliable (in terms of quality) as a random cm/8bc download...

That's kind of the feeling I've gotten from them.

Played my first gig at an Anime fan club, haha. Was good times though.

...but seriously, before I did my chip set I was just playing some DJCutman and some kid fuckin' came up to my set while I was getting a slice of pizza and changed tracks without asking! Da fuck!

Good year.

Haha, love the album cover.

Take out a sheet of paper.

Rank the likelihood that you would download a new EP from an artist you've never heard of, from the following sources:

- A netlabel you know & follow
- A netlabel you know & don't follow
- A netlabel you've never heard of
- A bandcamp page of an artist you've never heard of

I think you'll have your answer.

So, really in this case, it's not that the netlabel DOES anything for you but, it's nice to just have their name alongside yours for exposure? Makes sense, I guess.

EDIT: Well, I'm back and less retarded. I see now that it is a blog. So... let's pretend I left that part out.
