1. How long have you been making chiptunes?
5 minutes (1 year)
2. What inspired you to begin creating your own music?
It looked easy, turned out it was fun too
3. What do you personally use to produce chiptunes (Hardware and Software)?
Software
4. What genre of music (besides chip) inspires you the most?
We have three members so I'll answer for all three of us (guess which is which!): Metalcore / Stoner / Pop-punk
5. What do you know about music theory? Have you ever taken a formal music class?
Not much if any, Ben and Zack might have been in high school band but they don't really know much either
6. What do you reccomend for someone who would like to begin making chiptunes (tutorials, software, hardware, online resources)?
Don't listen to chiptunes
7. Do you perform at any live shows?
Sometimes
7.a. If so, Where?
At bars and basements
7.b. What's your motivation to perform live?
Money / Exposure (we wanna get rich and famous as fast as possible yo) (hahahahahahahaha)
but really some people don't think chiptunes are legit so we punch them in the face with our riffs, that's my goal yo
7.c. What kind of gear do you use at your shows?
Guitar + Bass + Electronic Drums + PSP -> Mixer / PA
Would you mind linking an example of a song that you find to be excellent in all of the aspects that I fell short (a good song in your opinion)?
I would be happy to list several examples. Keep in mind these are the kind of things I like, but what makes a "good" song is completely dependent on the person. You can whatever style of music you want.
I've listed only artists that use Gameboys (computer in the case of Octapus), but personally I like musicians that combine that sound with other, "normal" instruments. But these guys I listed, and even more, are capable of making tons of interesting stuff using just one Gameboy.
What are you using to make your songs? Just curious; obviously you don't have to use a gameboy
so I finally listened so here's some criticism
opinion: it's boring (your melody) and it's boring (because it's repetitive)
you fade in some drum sounds halfway through but nothing changes melodically or structurally
if I wanted to listen to a loop I could put on the cave story soundtrack
or any other game soundtrack I only said cave story because I played it recently and it has some very good loops but lots of games have good loops
like, look at the mario brothers they had good loops
so yeah that's what I feel in my heart and I hope this isn't representative of your body of work because this wasn't very good (in my opinion maybe other people like it idk you said 8bc liked it)
SO I listened to it again after I typed all that out it sounds like you add another melody on top halfway through but you're not using different instruments so I can't really hear any of the changes you possibly made
so I stand by what I said don't take it too harsh broseph
definitely need sarcasm punctuation
Well, it's pretty good.
relevant to Chip's Challenge's interests
no I'm too lazy
that's why all our songs sound the same
oh I guess I'll be going
My body is ready
Cheapshot's iPod app is pretty convenient... I heard there was gonna be an update soon too
Might ship you the rest of our burnt EPs.
If I show up with more stuff at BF, would it be cool if I just... dropped it on the table? Working on some stuff right now...
Can I have a download code?

Too lazy to learn? No, lack of time. I appreciate the economics of it but I'm not sure his perception of his own value of his time is what I would be willing to pay.
I get ya mate
CS wrote:What price would you say is a reasonable amount for a modded one?
The absolute maximum would be £50. For that, I would expect backlighting and prosound. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you don't think this is buttrock than your definition is wrong
might want to update your database
