Other than for recording, I hope it dies in a terrible fire.
EDIT: I meant live mode not LGPT haha
Do you like ableton live? I think it could be more useful if you could record your live button pushes, like that. So you record an 8 bar sequence, loop it, then over dub little things on it. And then mix it with a DJ mixer with another gameboy. Or a kazoo or whatever .

4mat wrote:Chipmusic is fine outside of the 'chip scene', there's lots of new music, tools and r&d going on. Probably because those guys just get on with things that interest them and aren't worried about being in any kind of scene at all. (for a start there's certainly no 'cc' elsewhere, people just upload stuff and that's it, done. Who gives a toss what Johnny X from Y thinks about your bass drum sounds?)
I think that's a good way to look at it. Why is a scene needed at all? We have all the tools we need, and more are coming all the time.
But the OP was probably intended as a Mental exercise. Will kids keep making this stuff when were gone? I think the styles will change (the over compressed chip-house stuff will die, someday), but interest in classic computers will keep these sounds alive. Computer music certainly isn't going away, why should chipmusic? Also Super Mario is like Mickey Mouse; the sounds of those games will live on, and inspire people to dig into the past. As much as we hate that.
Idea for YouTube viral video: Teens react to lsdj.

Those are all play it loud edition. The little black devil may be drawn on there?
Edit: on further investigation it seems the black devil, and Black devil-less game boys are both legit. Weird.
@CountSymphony Good to see you're still at it. Each project teaches you new lessons about code design, and this new code base will likely be a lot better organized, so this is for the best. Glad that you are making this open source! I don't have a lot of time to help, but in the future perhaps I will.
Good luck guys!

The #1 way I get stuck on a song is making one or two bars, and listening to them over and over again. At that point I can't imagine anything else coming next. So for me, I have to get a running start to get through the whole song, and not play it back too much.

How could he be more scornful ?
Yeah totally. You have to approach people the right way, and not assume they would want to give you creative work for free. Even if he had no money, he should have offered profit sharing. If it was a non-commercial project, that another story.

Yeah the production is great on that album. I'm kind of ambivalent about the music.
katsumbhong wrote:Game Team: Okay bpozega, we're pretty much done with the programming. What's our projected budget for music?
bpozega: I'm thinking $0.
Game Team: How the hell are we going to hire musicians on $0?
bpozega: Don't worry, we'll get some chiptune artists to work for free advertisement. Bitches love free advertisement.
You think he has a budget?

on a more pragmatic note, they are the cheapest format to produce, especially in small quantities
also they are punk and just generally rad, these are pragmatic concerns as well when one is talking about music and not, like, washing machine design
A lot of people prob think it's just a fun retro thing (even if it was, that would be okay), but I can appreciate the sound of a cassette tape. They sound different, and it can be enjoyable. Plus what u said.
When I was a kid I had this acid mixtape, and some sections of it would play backwards. It sounded so good..
Hey Chipzel! Dig it.
Oh whoops just started looking through my music
Computerization - Fake Music
Also Cex made an album call "Oops I did it again", and the cover was a guy washing copious amounts of blood off of his hands. The implication being that he's a serial killer, and a perhaps a Brittany Spears fan.
I listen about once a week, in hopes of new Beastmode, but there's usually something worth hearing. I check out Soundcloud too, but it moves very slowly. I follow like 20 peeps, but how often can each user upload a new song? Especially if they're are trying to make albums.
