I don't know what kind of setup you are running, but typically most mixer have both Main signal out and headphone out, I would route the headphone signal out into my PC's audio input jack and record via Audacity.

Interested.

I got the multisave to work with everything not-LSDJ. Pokemon Blue, Link's Awakening, and Pokemon TCG all work very well smile

When you boot a multirom page, the menu has options of pressing select to edit the SRAM, pressing A to open the game list, and pressing left or right on the Dpad to change pages.

When messing with SRAM, you can see which chunks are used (there are 11 useable ones [edit: some games use multiple chunk for their saves, Pokemon Blue uses 4], LSDJ uses all of them so no multirom LSDJ hmm) and the save name out to the side. You can delete the chunks if you wish to, and there is no need to rearrange them before you boot a game, SRAM for each game automatically boots.

Some games require patching, and you can find those patches downloadable in packs on the main site. They are IPS patches, so they patch near-instantly. So far I have had no issues with anything that this software was intended to be used for. smile

It should be noted that the EMS transfer software it comes with is functionally identical to the standard software, except it displays (for me) three garbled error messages when booting up. After the three error messages are acknowledged by pressing the "Okay" button in the error message window I can use the software, even without drivers or having to reboot in Windows 7! The custom menu (I assume) flashes automatically with the ROMS, and you can only access the menu in banks that have multiple ROMS (hence triggering the menu-load like the standard EMS menu).

The last thing you need to know about this software is that when you back sav's up they are still in this condensed state. To properly back up your saves it appears that you need to do an initial backup, then delete all other save files on the cartridge, back up the save for a particular game, then flash the multisave back and repeat the process again for the other games.

http://thegaminguniverse.org/ninjagaiden4/mottzilla/ found this software through some comments on Reddit in this thread http://www.reddit.com/r/Gameboy/comment … rd_64m_it/

It appears to solve the one-save-per-cartridge problem, and is obviously recent. It doesn't seem to work with LSDJ, and I am about to give the software a test run tonight and I will be sure to follow up shortly.

Thoughts?

Would be cool to see that ^ on a SNES with the Super Gameboy, could even have a custom border.

Personally, I'd like to see a 1-bit tracker for Gameboy. Not enough 1-bit love in this world.

Hack it and use it as a midi controller.

Also, did you just call the Gatari a stage prop? yikes
shame on you.

I think he is stating that most of us prefer to use use authentic hardware for sake of visual asthetics as well as audio aesthetics, and if we choose to customize our visual aesthetics it is of no huge importance.

I see tons of potential in this! Try and work on using the wave channel for more than drums, and see if you can add a melodic line. This will keep the song from being less repetitive and it will stay interesting. Also - try to come up with different drum patterns.

If you ever want hwlp or advice, PM me. Good to see you can use the EMS cart I sent you. smile

Deflemask is fun to play with. Seriously fun.

Oh I wasn't suggesting to use the special pin as output but to use it to signal your internal circuit to switch the internal jack between prosound or regular operation. If you build a momentary toggle switch into a cart (e.g. the EMS cart) that would send 5V down that pin when depressed and you intercept that signal you can use it to toggle your internal switching circuit during runtime without modifying your case.
It's just a wild idea but I don't see a reason that would not work.

Ah. That would work, but personally, I would not favor messing with my $35 EMS cart when I can wire to a DMG which I can replace for half the price wink given, I do have a few spare DMG's and a busted up EMS cart (no saving, freezes frequently, stuck on bank 2). In a few weeks we can see where this will go.

That pin is for line in, like a microphone or external audio source, not sure if it could do line out (and if it did, it would be mono sound I think). There was talk about building custom carts, etc with special chips. I could see the 5th channel be used with cart that had a 1/8" mono audio jack wired to the pin, and using a patched version of LSDJ to act as a volume-based mixer. Could be nice for using 2xLSDJ or using LSDJ-computer sync with a single patch cable. There could be lots of drawbacks, and I don't see it as an avenue worth exploring past adding native sound enhancements to the Gameboy itself.

Cograts on the double pole double throw switch mod smile Was talking to kitsch and jazzmarazz about it over the summer, never got around to it. Glad to see it so well executed.

That's a pretty cool idea. Would there be any way to make it switchable after boot or would you have to turn it off and on again if you decide to record something you've been working on on headphones?

Seeing as 2-page carts with bank switching have become the Gameboy standard for changing ROMS, I don't think anyone can complain about rebooting for recording/live/whatever. I'm not sure if people will be fond of soldering 8+ points to the chip (normal audio in L&R, prosound in L&R, audio out, ground, and button detection), but from my idea of visual aesthetics it will be very nice.

My reasoning for this setup is that I am tired of drilling holes in my nice (and not always easy or cheap to come across) Play It Loud cases, I am tired of having to recharge a headphone amp constantly, and I am trying to push myself from a modding standpoint. smile

Maybe in the future such a thing can be implemented with the still-in-development front PCB replacement? ;D

I'm working on a designing a simple diagram for a logic gate that will be wired to UP on the Dpad, so if UP is depressed on bootup you get prosound out, and if UP is not pressed on bootup you get standard audio.

I am tired of drilling holes in my pretty DMG shells. smile

Just FYI - since you live in Baton Rouge, message Shanebro, he lives near NOLA and the like.

It's interesting dreamy stuff, like if you crossed NiGHTS into Dreams with an Atari. I really dig it. Can't say much besides to keep doing what you do smile

Got the Gamecube + Gameboy Player hooked up to the Nanoloop USB MIDI connector from nonfinite running to the small TV for driving mGB and LSDJ, Ableton Live running on the main screen, all balanced through my mixer. Generic MIDI keyboard is for banging out melodies and entering notes quickly. Next additions to this setup (hopefully) - Model 1 Sega Genesis and littlescales's GenMDM adapter and a 8-channel mixer.

Working on getting the SGB modded with a link port so I can use a second Nanoloop USB MIDI connector.
